Description<\/b><\/p>\n<\/td>\n

Transmission range switch circuit malfunction<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

\n

Detection condition<\/b><\/p>\n<\/td>\n

    \n
  • \n

    The start stop unit detected the following condition 5 times<\/b> continuously with the ignition switched ON (engine off or on).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      \n
    • \n

      Transmission range switch is stuck on for a continuous 1 s or more<\/b> even though the TCM CAN signal is in a position other than the P and N position.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

\n

Fail-safe<\/b><\/p>\n<\/td>\n

  • \n

    Perform control of the internal signal for control of the transmission range switch as position other than P, N positions.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

    DTCs are stored in the TCM.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Transmission range switch connector or terminal malfunction<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Start stop unit connector or terminal malfunction<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Short to ground in wiring harness between the following terminals:<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      PCM terminal 2BD\u2014Transmission range switch terminal I<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Starter relay terminal 1F\u2014Transmission range switch terminal I<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Transmission range switch malfunction<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      PCM malfunction<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Start stop unit malfunction<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

\n INSPECT PCM CONNECTOR CONDITION<\/b><\/p>\n
    \n
  • \n

    Disconnect the PCM connector.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Inspect the connector engagement and connection condition and inspect the terminals for damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Is the connector normal?<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n

\n

Yes<\/p>\n<\/td>\n

\n

Go to the next step.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

No<\/p>\n<\/td>\n

Repair or replace the connector, then go to Step 8.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

\n INSPECT START STOP UNIT CONNECTOR CONDITION<\/b><\/p>\n

    Disconnect the start stop unit connector.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Inspect the connector engagement and connection condition and inspect the terminals for damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Is the connector normal?<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n

Yes<\/p>\n<\/td>\n

Go to the next step.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

No<\/p>\n<\/td>\n

Repair or replace the connector, then go to Step 8.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

5<\/p>\n<\/td>\n

\n INSPECT TRANSMISSION RANGE SWITCH CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO GROUND<\/b><\/p>\n
    \n
  • \n

    Verify that the start stop unit, PCM and transmission range switch connectors are disconnected.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Inspect for continuity between start stop unit terminal 1F (wiring harness-side) and body ground.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Is there continuity?<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n

\n

Yes<\/p>\n<\/td>\n

\n

Refer to the wiring diagram and verify whether or not there is a common connector between the following terminals:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • \n

    PCM terminal 2BD\u2014Transmission range switch terminal I<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Starter relay terminal 1F\u2014Transmission range switch terminal I<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      \n If there is a common connector:<\/b><\/p>\n
    • \n

      Determine the malfunctioning part by inspecting the common connector and the terminal for corrosion, damage, or pin disconnection, and the common wiring harness for a short to ground.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Repair or replace the malfunctioning part.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        \n If there is no common connector:<\/b><\/p>\n
      • \n

        Repair or replace the wiring harness which has a short to ground.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Go to Step 8.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

No<\/p>\n<\/td>\n

\n

Go to the next step.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

\n INSPECT TRANSMISSION RANGE SWITCH<\/b><\/p>\n\n

Yes<\/p>\n<\/td>\n

\n

Go to the next step.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

No<\/p>\n<\/td>\n

\n

Replace the transmission range switch, then go to Step 8.<\/p>\n

\n VERIFY IF MALFUNCTIONING LOCATION IS PCM DEPENDING ON REPEATABILITY<\/b><\/p>\n\n

Yes<\/p>\n<\/td>\n

Replace the PCM, then go to the next step.<\/p>\n
