2016 – MX-5 – Body and Accessories<\/h2>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

REAR BUMPER BRACKET REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/h3>\n

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION\/CONNECTION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

2. Remove the trunk end trim. (See TRUNK END TRIM REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

3. Partially peel back the trunk side trim. (See TRUNK SIDE TRIM REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

4. Remove the following parts:<\/p>\n

a. Rear combination light (See REAR COMBINATION LIGHT REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

b. Rear splash shield (See REAR SPLASH SHIELD REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

c. Rear bumper stay (See REAR BUMPER STAY REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

d. Rear bumper retainer No.1 (See REAR BUMPER RETAINER No.1 REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

e. Rear bumper (See REAR BUMPER REMOVAL<\/a>.) (See REAR BUMPER INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

5. While pressing the rear bumper bracket tabs in the direction of arrows (1) shown in the figure, move the rear bumper bracket in the direction of arrow (2) and detach the rear bumper bracket from the body.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

6. Remove the rear bumper bracket.<\/p>\n

7. Install in the reverse order of removal.<\/p>\n
