Read the SRS air bag system service warnings and cautions before handling the air bag module. (See <a href=\"SM353470\">AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM]<\/a>.) (See <a href=\"SM353469\">AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE CAUTIONS [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM]<\/a>.) (See <a href=\"SM353492\">AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS [STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM]<\/a>.) (See <a href=\"SM353491\">AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE CAUTIONS [STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">CAUTION:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>Never remove bolts and screws other than the bolt in Steps 7 and 8. Otherwise, it will cause internal damage and the steering lock cannot be unlocked, resulting in the inability to perform the start-stop unit removal\/installation.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>If configuration is not performed when the start stop unit is replaced with a new one, the vehicle specification information is not stored in the start stop unit and the system will not operate normally.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>When performing configuration, it is necessary to read the vehicle specification information from the start stop unit before replacing it. Connect the M-MDS to the vehicle and perform vehicle identification before removing the start stop unit. The vehicle specification information is temporarily stored in the M-MDS.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">NOTE:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>The start stop unit prior to replacement stores the vehicle specification information.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>A new start stop unit does not store any vehicle specification information.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>If the vehicle specification information from the start stop unit prior to replacement cannot be read, perform the configuration using As-Built data.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            1. When replacing the start stop unit, perform the configuration. (See <a href=\"SM356103\">START STOP UNIT CONFIGURATION (USING READ\/WRITE FUNCTION)<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            2. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for <b>1 min or more<\/b>. (See <a href=\"SM352783\">NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION\/CONNECTION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            3. Remove the following parts:<\/p>\n<p>              a. Driver-side air bag module (See <a href=\"SM353476\">DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM]<\/a>.) (See <a href=\"SM353477\">DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM]<\/a>.) (See <a href=\"SM353495\">DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL [STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM]<\/a>.) (See <a href=\"SM353496\">DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE INSTALLATION [STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>              b. Steering wheel (See <a href=\"SM353228\">STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>              c. Column cover (See <a href=\"SM356189\">COLUMN COVER REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>              d. Clock spring (See <a href=\"SM353466\">CLOCK SPRING REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM]<\/a>.) (See <a href=\"SM353488\">CLOCK SPRING REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>              e. Wiper and washer switch (See <a href=\"SM356282\">WIPER AND WASHER SWITCH REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>              f. Light switch (See <a href=\"SM356250\">LIGHT SWITCH REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>              g. Passenger-side scuff plate (See <a href=\"SM356211\">SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>              h. Passenger-side front side trim (See <a href=\"SM356199\">FRONT SIDE TRIM REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>              i. Passenger-side A-pillar trim (See <a href=\"SM356198\">A-PILLAR TRIM REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>              j. Passenger-side lower panel (See <a href=\"SM356210\">PASSENGER-SIDE LOWER PANEL REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>              k. Center panel No.2 (See <a href=\"SM356182\">CENTER PANEL No.2 REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>              l. Meter hood (See <a href=\"SM356188\">METER HOOD REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>              m. Instrument cluster (See <a href=\"SM356358\">INSTRUMENT CLUSTER REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            4. Disconnect the connector.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AM3UUW00009992.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AM3UUW00009992.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            5. While pressing the tabs of the clip in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure, press it in the direction of arrow (2) to detach the connector tabs from the start stop unit.<\/p>\n<p>            6. Remove the wiring harness clip from the start stop unit.<\/p>\n<p>            7. Make a groove on the heads of the bolts by punching them with a chisel using a hammer.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AM3UUW00009993.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AM3UUW00009993.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            8. Remove the bolts by rotating them counterclockwise.<\/p>\n<p>            9. Remove the start stop unit from the steering shaft by pulling it in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AM3UUW00009994.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AM3UUW00009994.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            10. Install in the reverse order of removal. (See <a href=\"\"#id09140011030001\">Start Stop Unit Installation Note<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            11. Perform the following when replacing the start stop unit.<\/p>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">NOTE:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>If configuration cannot be performed by reading\/writing of the vehicle specification information, perform the configuration using As-Built information after replacing the start stop unit. (See <a href=\"SM356104\">START STOP UNIT CONFIGURATION (USING AS-BUILT DATA)<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>Immobilizer system-related parts programming. (See <a href=\"SM356118\">IMMOBILIZER SYSTEM-RELATED PARTS PROGRAMMING<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>          <a name=\"id09140011030001\" id=\"id09140011030001\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Start Stop Unit Installation Note<\/h4>\n<p>            1. Temporarily install the start stop unit to the steering shaft using new start stop unit installation bolts.<\/p>\n<p>            2.
