2016 – MX-5 – Body and Accessories<\/h2>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

TRUNK LID OPENER SWITCH REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/h3>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

Vehicle Interior<\/h4>\n

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION\/CONNECTION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

2. Remove the following parts:<\/p>\n

a. Driver-side scuff plate (See SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

b. Driver-side front side trim (See FRONT SIDE TRIM REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

c. Driver-side A-pillar trim (See A-PILLAR TRIM REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

3. Remove the bolt shown in the figure.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

4. Pull the driver-side lower panel in the direction of the arrow in the order of (1), (2) while detaching hook and clips.<\/p>\n

5. Partially peel back the driver-side lower panel.<\/p>\n

6. Disconnect the connector from the trunk lid opener switch.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

7. While pressing the trunk lid opener switch tab in the direction of arrows (1) shown in the figure using the flathead screwdriver wrapped in protective tape, move the trunk lid opener switch in the direction of arrow (2) and detach the trunk lid opener switch tab from the driver-side lower panel.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

8. While pressing the tab of the trunk lid opener switch in the direction of arrows (3) shown in the figure, move the trunk lid opener switch in the direction of arrow (4) and detach the tab of the trunk lid opener switch from the driver-side lower panel.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

9. Remove the trunk lid opener switch from the driver-side lower panel.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

10. Install in the reverse order of removal.
\n <\/a><\/p>\n

Vehicle Exterior<\/h4>\n

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION\/CONNECTION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

2. Remove the following parts:<\/p>\n

a. Trunk end trim (See TRUNK END TRIM REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

b. Trunk side trim (See TRUNK SIDE TRIM REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

c. Rear combination light (See REAR COMBINATION LIGHT REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

d. Rear splash shield (See REAR SPLASH SHIELD REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

e. Rear bumper stay (See REAR BUMPER STAY REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

f. Rear bumper retainer No.1 (See REAR BUMPER RETAINER No.1 REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

g. Rear bumper (See REAR BUMPER REMOVAL<\/a>.)(See REAR BUMPER INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

3. Disconnect the connector.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

4. While pressing the trunk lid opener switch tab in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure, press it in the direction of arrow (2) to detach the trunk lid opener switch tab from the rear bumper..<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

5. Remove the trunk lid opener switch from the rear bumper.<\/p>\n

6. Install in the reverse order of removal.<\/p>\n
