2016 – MX-5 – Body and Accessories<\/h2>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

DRAIN COVER REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/h3>\n

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION\/CONNECTION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

2. Remove the following parts:<\/p>\n

a. Selector lever knob (AT) (See AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFT MECHANISM REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

b. Shift lever knob (MT)<\/p>\n

c. Shift panel assembly (See SHIFT PANEL REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

d. Upper panel (See UPPER PANEL REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

e. Parking brake lever boot panel(See PARKING BRAKE LEVER BOOT PANEL REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

f. Rear console (See REAR CONSOLE REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

g. Scuff plate (See SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

h. Tire house trim (See TIRE HOUSE TRIM REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

i. Wind blocker (See WIND BLOCKER REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

j. Seat back bar garnish (See SEAT BACK BAR GARNISH REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

k. Quarter trim (See QUARTER TRIM REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

l. Rear side trim (See REAR SIDE TRIM REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

m. Roof hook lever (See ROOF HOOK REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

n. Back trim (See BACK TRIM REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

3. Remove the seat belt retractor installation bolts and set aside the seat belt retractor. (See SEAT BELT REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

4. Remove the following parts:<\/p>\n

a. Lock bracket (See LOCK BRACKET REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

b. Seat back crossmember assembly (See SEAT BACK CROSSMEMBER ASSEMBLY REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

c. Side shelf (See SIDE SHELF REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

d. Convertible top (See CONVERTIBLE TOP REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

e. Floor covering No.2 (See FLOOR COVERING REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

5. Partially peel back the floor covering No.1<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

6. Insert the remover tool into the position shown in the figure.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

7. While pressing the service hole cover in the direction of arrow (1), move the remover tool in the direction of arrow (2) and remove the service hole cover.<\/p>\n

8. Lift up the vehicle.<\/p>\n

9. Remove the charcoal canister. (Driver’s side)(See CHARCOAL CANISTER REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

10. Remove the floor under cover.(Passenger’s side)(See FLOOR UNDER COVER REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

11. Press the tabs of the drain hose joint in the directions of the arrows shown in the figure and detach them from the body.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

12. Remove the fasteners and clip.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

13. Remove the rear beltline molding protector.<\/p>\n

14. Bend the flap part of the drain cover in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

15. Move the rear beltline molding in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure to a position where the fastener is visible.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

16. Remove the fastener.<\/p>\n

17. Pull the drain cover out of the body and remove it.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

18. Install in the reverse order of removal.
