Fuel, with a pressure of <b>450 kPa {4.59 kgf\/cm<sup>2<\/sup>, 65.3 psi}<\/b>, from the fuel pump built into the fuel tank is boosted up to <b>20 MPa {204 kgf\/cm<sup>2<\/sup>, 2901 psi}<\/b>, and it is pumped to the fuel distributor in an easily atomizable state.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>          <a name=\"id0114z573140002\" id=\"id0114z573140002\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Construction<\/h4>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>The high pressure fuel pump is located on the exhaust camshaft at the rear of the engine.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUN00001508.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUN00001508.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>The high pressure fuel pump consists of a spill valve control solenoid valve, spill valve, piston, and discharge valve.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUN00001509.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUN00001509.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>          <a name=\"id0114z573140003\" id=\"id0114z573140003\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Operation<\/h4>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>Fuel is suctioned and pumped by the up and down movement of the piston caused by the rotation of the cam installed to the rear end of the exhaust camshaft.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Based on the control signal from the PCM, the spill valve control solenoid valve opens and closes in the high pressure fuel pump.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>If the spill valve control solenoid valve malfunctions and the fuel pressure exceeds the specified value, the relief valve opens to assure safety.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUN00001510.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUN00001510.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>For the high pressure fuel pump control details, refer to the [CONTROL SYSTEM].
