Fuel gauge sender unit circuit low input<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

DETECTION CONDITION<\/b><\/p>\n<\/td>\n

  • \n

    The PCM monitors the fuel level signal and fuel gauge sender unit output voltage from the instrument cluster. If the PCM detects a fuel level or fuel gauge sender unit output voltage that is too low, the PCM determines that the fuel gauge sender unit circuit has a malfunction.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      \n Diagnostic support note<\/b><\/p>\n
    • \n

      This is a continuous monitor (CCM).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      The check engine light illuminates if the PCM detects the above malfunction condition in two consecutive drive cycles or in one drive cycle while the DTC for the same malfunction has been stored in the PCM.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      PENDING CODE is available if the PCM detects the above malfunction condition during first drive cycle.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      FREEZE FRAME DATA\/Snapshot data is available.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      DTC is stored in the PCM memory.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

    Switch the ignition off.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Disconnect the fuel gauge sender unit connector.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Inspect for poor connection (such as damaged\/pulled-out pins, corrosion).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Is there any malfunction?<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n

Yes<\/p>\n<\/td>\n

\n

Repair or replace the connector and\/or terminals, then go to Step 10.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

No<\/p>\n<\/td>\n

    Verify that the fuel gauge sender unit and BCM connectors are disconnected.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Inspect for continuity between fuel gauge sender unit terminal D (wiring harness-side) and body ground.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Is there continuity?<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n

\n

Yes<\/p>\n<\/td>\n

\n

Refer to the wiring diagram and verify whether or not there is a common connector between fuel gauge sender unit terminal D and BCM terminal 2Q.<\/p>\n

    \n If there is a common connector:<\/b><\/p>\n
  • \n

    Determine the malfunctioning part by inspecting the common connector and the terminal for corrosion, damage, or pin disconnection, and the common wiring harness for a short to ground.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Repair or replace the malfunctioning part.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      \n If there is no common connector:<\/b><\/p>\n
    • \n

      Repair or replace the wiring harness which has a short to ground.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Go to Step 10.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

    Verify that the fuel gauge sender unit and BCM connectors are disconnected.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Inspect for continuity between fuel gauge sender unit terminals D and C (wiring harness-side).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Is there continuity?<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n

Yes<\/p>\n<\/td>\n

Refer to the wiring diagram and verify whether or not there is a common connector between the following terminals:<\/p>\n

    Fuel gauge sender unit terminal D\u2014BCM terminal 2Q<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Fuel gauge sender unit terminal C\u2014BCM terminal 2R<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      \n If there is a common connector:<\/b><\/p>\n
    • \n

      Determine the malfunctioning part by inspecting the common connector and the terminal for corrosion, damage, or pin disconnection, and the common wiring harness for a short to each other.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
