  • \n

    PCM internal malfunction.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      \n Diagnostic support note<\/b><\/p>\n
    • \n

      This is a continuous monitor (CCM).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      The check engine light illuminates if the PCM detects the above malfunction condition during the first drive cycle.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      FREEZE FRAME DATA\/Snapshot data is available.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      DTC is stored in the PCM memory.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

FAIL-SAFE FUNCTION<\/b><\/p>\n<\/td>\n

  • \n

    Restricts the upper limit of the engine speed.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Stops the drive-by-wire control (throttle valve is open at approx. 8 \u00b0<\/b> by return spring force).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Perform repair or diagnosis according to the available repair information.<\/p>\n

    If the vehicle is not repaired, go to the next step.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

No<\/p>\n<\/td>\n

\n INSPECT THROTTLE BODY CONNECTOR CONDITION<\/b><\/p>\n

  • \n

    Switch the ignition off.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Disconnect the throttle body connector.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Inspect for poor connection (such as damaged\/pulled-out pins, corrosion).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Is there any malfunction?<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n

\n

Yes<\/p>\n<\/td>\n

\n

Repair or replace the connector and\/or terminals, then go to Step 6.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

\n

No<\/p>\n<\/td>\n

\n

Go to the next step.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

4<\/p>\n<\/td>\n

\n INSPECT PCM CONNECTOR CONDITION<\/b><\/p>\n
    \n
  • \n

    Disconnect the PCM connector.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Inspect for poor connection (such as damaged\/pulled-out pins, corrosion).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Is there any malfunction?<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n

Yes<\/p>\n<\/td>\n

\n INSPECT THROTTLE VALVE ACTUATOR CIRCUITS FOR SHORT TO EACH OTHER<\/b><\/p>\n
    \n
  • \n

    Verify that the throttle body and PCM connectors are disconnected.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Inspect for continuity between throttle body terminals E and F (wiring harness-side).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Is there continuity?<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n

\n

Yes<\/p>\n<\/td>\n

\n

Refer to the wiring diagram and verify whether or not there is a common connector between the following terminals:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • \n

    Throttle body terminal E\u2014PCM terminal 1CG<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Throttle body terminal F\u2014PCM terminal 1CC<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      \n If there is a common connector:<\/b><\/p>\n
    • \n

      Determine the malfunctioning part by inspecting the common connector and the terminal for corrosion, damage, or pin disconnection, and the common wiring harness for a short to each other.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Repair or replace the malfunctioning part.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        \n If there is no common connector:<\/b><\/p>\n
      • \n

        Repair or replace the wiring harness which has a short to each other.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Go to the next step.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

No<\/p>\n<\/td>\n

\n

Go to the next step.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
