DETECTION CONDITION<\/b><\/p>\n<\/td>\n

  • \n

    If the fully-close throttle position is 5.1 \u00b0 or lower<\/b>, or 15.9 \u00b0 or more<\/b> (even though fully-closed throttle position learning is finished), the PCM determines there is a malfunction.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      \n Diagnostic support note<\/b><\/p>\n
    • \n

      This is a continuous monitor (CCM).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      The check engine light illuminates if the PCM detects the above malfunction condition during the first drive cycle.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      FREEZE FRAME DATA\/Snapshot data is available.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

    Inspect for poor connection (such as damaged\/pulled-out pins, corrosion).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Is there any malfunction?<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n

Yes<\/p>\n<\/td>\n

\n

Repair or replace the connector and\/or terminals, then go to Step 11.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

No<\/p>\n<\/td>\n

\n INSPECT THROTTLE VALVE ACTUATOR CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO GROUND<\/b><\/p>\n

  • \n

    Verify that the throttle body connector is disconnected.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Inspect for continuity between the following terminals (wiring harness-side) and body ground:<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      \n
    • \n

      Throttle body terminal E<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Throttle body terminal F<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    • \n

      Is there continuity?<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n

\n

Yes<\/p>\n<\/td>\n

\n

Disconnect the PCM connector and inspect the wiring harness for short to ground.<\/p>\n

    \n
  • \n

    If the short to ground circuit could be detected in the wiring harness:<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      \n
    • \n

      Refer to the wiring diagram and verify whether or not there is a common connector between the following terminals:<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        \n
      • \n

        Throttle body terminal E\u2014PCM terminal 1CG<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      • \n

        Throttle body terminal F\u2014PCM terminal 1CC<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          \n If there is a common connector:<\/b><\/p>\n
        • \n

          Determine the malfunctioning part by inspecting the common connector and the terminal for corrosion, damage, or pin disconnection, and the common wiring harness for a short to ground.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        • \n

          Repair or replace the malfunctioning part.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Verify that the throttle body and PCM connectors are disconnected.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Switch the ignition ON (engine off).<\/p>\n

    NOTE:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

      \n
    • \n

      Another DTC may be stored by the PCM detecting an open circuit.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Measure the voltage at the following terminals (wiring harness-side):<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        \n
      • \n

        Throttle body terminal E<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      • \n

        Throttle body terminal F<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      • \n

        Is the voltage 0 V<\/b>?<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n

Yes<\/p>\n<\/td>\n

\n

Go to the next step.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

No<\/p>\n<\/td>\n

\n

Refer to the wiring diagram and verify whether or not there is a common connector between the following terminals:<\/p>\n

  • \n

    Throttle body terminal E\u2014PCM terminal 1CG<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Throttle body terminal F\u2014PCM terminal 1CC<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      \n If there is a common connector:<\/b><\/p>\n
    • \n

      Determine the malfunctioning part by inspecting the common connector and the terminal for corrosion, damage, or pin disconnection, and the common wiring harness for a short to power supply.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Repair or replace the malfunctioning part.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        \n If there is no common connector:<\/b><\/p>\n
      • \n

        Repair or replace the wiring harness which has a short to power supply.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
