Turn off the engine and wait until it is cool before servicing.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">CAUTION:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>Do not disassemble the electric variable valve timing actuator because it is a precision unit.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See <a href=\"SM352783\">NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION\/CONNECTION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            2. Remove the electric variable valve timing motor\/driver. (See <a href=\"SM352697\">ELECTRIC VARIABLE VALVE TIMING MOTOR\/DRIVER REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            3. Rotate the eccentric shaft of the electric variable valve timing actuator by hand and verify that it rotates smoothly.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004357.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004357.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>If it does not rotate smoothly, replace the electric variable valve timing actuator. (See <a href=\"SM352676\">ELECTRIC VARIABLE VALVE TIMING ACTUATOR, HYDRAULIC VARIABLE VALVE TIMING ACTUATOR REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">NOTE:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>Hook a finger onto the joint groove of the eccentric shaft to rotate the shaft easily.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>The eccentric shaft stops rotating at the maximum retard position when it is rotated counterclockwise as viewed from the front, and at the maximum advance position when rotated clockwise.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            4.
