This is due to the fuel cut control operation, which prevents overheating, and it does not indicate a malfunction. The engine speed returns to normal control when the accelerator pedal is released.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            1. Connect the M-MDS to the DLC-2.<\/p>\n<p>            2. Shift the selector lever (AT) or shift lever (MT) to the following position:<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>MT: Shift lever is in neutral position.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>AT: Selector lever is in P position or N position.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">NOTE:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>The engine coolant temperature and oil temperature can be verified by M-MDS PID \u201cECT\u201d and \u201cOIL_TEMP\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            3. Run the engine speed at a constant <b>2,500 to 3,000 rpm<\/b> and warm up the engine (engine coolant temperature: <b>80 \u00b0C {176 \u00b0F}<\/b> or more, oil temperature: <b>60 \u00b0C {140 \u00b0F}<\/b> or more).<\/p>\n<p>            4. Turn off all electrical loads with the engine idling.<\/p>\n<p>            5. If the cooling fan is operating, wait until it stops.<br \/>\n          <a name=\"id0110h280060002\" id=\"id0110h280060002\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Idle Speed Inspection<\/h4>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">NOTE:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>The idle speed cannot be adjusted.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>The M-MDS is required to verify the idle speed.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            1. Prepare for the engine tune-up. (See <a href=\"\"#id0110h280060001\">Engine Tune-up Preparation<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            2. Verify that the idle speed (M-MDS PID: RPM) is within the specification using the PID\/data monitor function of the M-MDS. (See <a href=\"SM352817\">PCM INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>If there is a malfunction, refer to \u201cENGINE SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING\u201d. (See <a href=\"SM352646\">SYMPTOM DIAGNOSTIC INDEX [SKYACTIV-G 2.0]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n                <b>Idle speed (MT: Neutral position, AT: P position or N position)<\/b><\/p>\n<li>\n<p>MT: 660\u2014760 rpm<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>AT: 670\u2014770 rpm<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>          <a name=\"id0110h280060003\" id=\"id0110h280060003\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Ignition Timing Inspection<\/h4>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">NOTE:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>The ignition timing cannot be adjusted.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>The M-MDS is required to verify the ignition timing.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            1. Prepare for the engine tune-up. (See <a href=\"\"#id0110h280060001\">Engine Tune-up Preparation<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            2. Verify the ignition timing (M-MDS PID: SPARKADV) using the PID\/data monitor function of the M-MDS. (See <a href=\"SM352817\">PCM INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<ul>\n                <b>Ignition timing<\/b><\/p>\n<li>\n<p>Approx. BTDC 15\u00b0<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            3. Verify that ignition timing advances when the engine speed increases gradually.<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>If there is a malfunction, refer to \u201cENGINE SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING\u201d. (See <a href=\"SM352646\">SYMPTOM DIAGNOSTIC INDEX [SKYACTIV-G 2.0]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>          <a name=\"id0110h280060004\" id=\"id0110h280060004\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Idle Mixture Inspection<\/h4>\n<p>            1. Verify that the idle speed and ignition timing are within the specification. (See <a href=\"\"#id0110h280060002\">Idle Speed Inspection<\/a>.) (See <a href=\"\"#id0110h280060003\">Ignition Timing Inspection<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            2. Insert an exhaust gas analyzer into the tailpipe.<\/p>\n<p>            3. Verify that the CO and HC concentrations are within regulation.<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>If there is a malfunction, refer to \u201cENGINE SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING\u201d. (See <a href=\"SM352646\">SYMPTOM DIAGNOSTIC INDEX [SKYACTIV-G 2.0]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<ul type=\"square\">\n<li>\n<p>If no malfunction is detected, replace the catalytic converter. Verify that the idle speed according to each load (M-MDS PID: RPM) is within the specification using the PID\/data monitor function of the M-MDS (except idle speed decrease after applying load).
