Turn off the engine and wait until it is cool before servicing.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">CAUTION:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>Applying excessive force (force of 100 N {10.2 kgf, 22.5 lbf} or more) to the electric variable valve timing motor\/driver may cause a malfunction. When servicing, be careful not to apply excessive force to the electric variable valve timing motor\/driver using other parts or tools.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Do not disassemble the electric variable valve timing motor\/driver because it is a precision unit.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See <a href=\"SM352783\">NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION\/CONNECTION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            2. Remove in the order indicated in the table.<\/p>\n<p>            3. Install a new O-ring to the O-ring installation groove of the engine front cover.<\/p>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">CAUTION:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>To prevent damage to the electric variable valve timing motor\/driver, do not apply excessive force (force of 100 N {10.2 kgf, 22.5 lbf} or more) to the shaded areas shown in the figure.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004462.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004462.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            2. Install the electric variable valve timing motor\/driver using the following procedures.<\/p>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">NOTE:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>The eccentric shaft on the electric variable valve timing actuator side can be rotated to the left and right.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004463.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004463.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>The electric variable valve timing motor\/driver can be assembled with the joint groove of the eccentric shaft in any position, and it will not lead to vehicle damage or performance reduction.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>              a. Before installation, rotate the joint on the end of the electric variable valve timing motor\/driver so that it is aligned to the joint groove on the electric variable valve timing actuator side.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AM3UUW00009047.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AM3UUW00009047.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>              b. Engage the joint on the end of the electric variable valve timing motor\/driver with the joint groove on the electric variable valve timing actuator side.<\/p>\n<p>              c. Attach the seal surface.<\/p>\n<p>              d.
