Scalding engine coolant and steam may shoot out and cause serious injury. It may also damage the engine and cooling system.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Turn off the engine and wait until it is cool. Even then, be very careful when removing the cap. Wrap a thick cloth around it and slowly turn it counterclockwise to the first stop. Step back while the pressure escapes.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>When you are sure all the pressure is gone, press down on the cap using the cloth, turn it, and remove it.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            1. Inspect the engine coolant level. (See <a href=\"SM352710\">ENGINE COOLANT LEVEL INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            2. Remove the cooling system cap.<\/p>\n<p>            3. Install the radiator cap tester to the radiator filler neck.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMPJJW00003132.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMPJJW00003132.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            4. Apply pressure using the radiator cap tester.<\/p>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">CAUTION:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>Applying more than 122.6 kPa {1.250 kgf\/cm<sup>2<\/sup>, 17.78 psi} can damage the hoses, fittings, and other components, and cause leakage.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n                <b>Engine coolant leakage inspection pressure<\/b><\/p>\n<li>\n<p>122.6 kPa {1.250 kgf\/cm<sup>2<\/sup>, 17.78 psi} [1 min]<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            5. When pressurizing the cooling system, verify that the pressure is maintained.<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>If the gauge needle drops, it may indicate water leakage.
