Fuel can ignite and cause serious injury or death and damage. To prevent this, complete the following inspection with the engine stopped.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Highly pressurized fuel may spray out if the fuel line is cut. Due to the following dangers occurring with a fuel spray, always complete the \u201cFuel Line Safety Procedure\u201d to prevent the fuel from spraying.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<ul type=\"square\">\n<li>\n<p>Fuel may cause irritation if it comes in contact with skin and eyes.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>If fuel ignites and causes a fire, it may lead to serious injury or death, and damage to property and facilities.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<li>\n<p>A person charged with static electricity could cause a fire or explosion, resulting in death or serious injury. Before performing work on the fuel system, discharge static electricity by touching the vehicle body.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">CAUTION:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>Disconnecting\/connecting the quick release connector without cleaning it may possibly cause damage to the fuel pipe and quick release connector. Always clean the quick release connector joint area before disconnecting\/connecting using cloth or soft brush, and make sure that it is free of foreign material.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            1. Complete the \u201cBEFORE SERVICE PRECAUTION\u201d. (See <a href=\"SM352744\">BEFORE SERVICE PRECAUTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See <a href=\"SM352783\">NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION\/CONNECTION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            3. Disconnect the quick release connector as shown in the figure. (See <a href=\"SM352742\">QUICK RELEASE CONNECTOR REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00005160.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00005160.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            4. Turn the lever of the <b>SST<\/b> parallel to the hose as shown in the figure.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00005161.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00005161.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            5. Insert the <b>SST<\/b> quick release connector into the fuel pipe until a click is heard.<\/p>\n<p>            6. Verify that the quick release connector is firmly connected by pulling it by hand.<\/p>\n<p>            7. Start the fuel pump using the following procedure.<\/p>\n<ul>\n                <b>Using M-MDS<\/b><\/p>\n<li>\n<p>Connect the negative battery cable. (See <a href=\"SM352783\">NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION\/CONNECTION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Connect the M-MDS to the DLC-2.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Using the simulation function \u201cFP\u201d, start the fuel pump. (See <a href=\"SM352608\">ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC TEST [PCM (SKYACTIV-G 2.0)]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n                <b>Without using M-MDS<\/b><\/p>\n<li>\n<p>Remove the fuel pump relay.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00005162.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00005162.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">CAUTION:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>Short the specified terminals because shorting the wrong terminal of the relay and fuse block may cause malfunctions.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Using a jumper wire, short fuel pump relay terminals C and D in the relay and fuse block.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00005163.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00005163.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Connect the negative battery cable and operate the fuel pump. (See <a href=\"SM352783\">NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION\/CONNECTION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            8. Operate the fuel pump for <b>10 s<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>            9. Measure the fuel line pressure.<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>If not within the specification, inspect the following:<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<ul type=\"square\">\n                    <b>If it less than the specification:<\/b><\/p>\n<li>\n<p>Fuel pump unit<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Fuel line for restriction or leakage<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul type=\"square\">\n                    <b>If it exceeds the specification:<\/b><\/p>\n<li>\n<p>Fuel line restriction<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n                <b>Fuel pressure<\/b><\/p>\n<li>\n<p>425\u2014505 kPa {4.34\u20145.14 kgf\/cm<sup>2<\/sup>, 61.7\u201473.2 psi}<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            10. Stop the fuel pump using the following procedure.<\/p>\n<ul>\n                <b>Using M-MDS<\/b><\/p>\n<li>\n<p>Using the simulation function \u201cFP\u201d, stop the fuel pump. (See <a href=\"SM352608\">ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC TEST [PCM (SKYACTIV-G 2.0)]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n                <b>Without using M-MDS<\/b><\/p>\n<li>\n<p>Disconnect the negative battery cable to stop the fuel pump. (See <a href=\"SM352783\">NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION\/CONNECTION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            11. Measure the fuel hold pressure <b>after 5 min<\/b>.<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>If not within the specification, inspect the following:<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<ul type=\"square\">\n<li>\n<p>Fuel line leakage<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n                <b>Fuel hold pressure<\/b><\/p>\n<li>\n<p>250 kPa {2.55 kgf\/cm<sup>2<\/sup>, 36.3 psi} or more<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            12. Complete the \u201cBEFORE SERVICE PRECAUTION\u201d. (See <a href=\"SM352744\">BEFORE SERVICE PRECAUTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            13. Disconnect the <b>SST<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>            14. Connect the quick release connector. (See <a href=\"SM352742\">QUICK RELEASE CONNECTOR REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            15. Complete the \u201cAFTER SERVICE PRECAUTION\u201d.
