Due to the following dangers occurring with a fuel spray, always complete the \u201cFuel Line Safety Procedure\u201d to prevent the fuel from spraying.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<ul type=\"square\">\n<li>\n<p>Fuel may cause irritation if it comes in contact with skin and eyes.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>If fuel ignites and causes a fire, it may lead to serious injury or death, and damage to property and facilities.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<li>\n<p>A person charged with static electricity could cause a fire or explosion, resulting in death or serious injury. Before draining fuel, make sure to discharge static electricity by touching the vehicle body.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            1. Complete the \u201cBEFORE SERVICE PRECAUTION\u201d. (See <a href=\"SM352744\">BEFORE SERVICE PRECAUTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See <a href=\"SM352783\">NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION\/CONNECTION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            3. Remove the fuel pump unit. (See <a href=\"SM352736\">FUEL PUMP UNIT REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            4. Drain the fuel from the fuel tank to the position where the non-return valve is visible. (See <a href=\"SM352750\">FUEL DRAINING PROCEDURE [SKYACTIV-G 2.0]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">NOTE:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>Non-return valve is integrated in the fuel tank.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>The non-return valve is normally closed by the spring force.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            5. Verify that the non-return valve is closed.<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>If the non-return valve is stuck open and does not open even when pulled up by a finger, replace the fuel tank.
