Verify that the battery is fully charged. (See <a href=\"SM352781\">BATTERY INSPECTION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            2. Verify that the assembly condition of the drive belt is normal. (See <a href=\"SM352690\">DRIVE BELT INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            3. Switch the ignition ON (engine off), verify that the charging system warning light illuminates.<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>If it does not illuminate, inspect the charging system warning light and the wiring harness.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<ol type=\"1\">\n<li>\n<p>If the charging system warning light and the wiring harness are normal, inspect the PCM. (See <a href=\"SM352817\">PCM INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            4. Verify that the charging system warning light turns off after the engine is started.<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>If the charging system warning light does not turn off, perform the DTC inspection, then perform troubleshooting according to the corresponding diagnostic procedure. (See <a href=\"SM352608\">ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC TEST [PCM (SKYACTIV-G 2.0)]<\/a>.) (See <a href=\"SM352613\">DTC TABLE [PCM (SKYACTIV-G 2.0)]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>          <a name=\"id0117008003h502\" id=\"id0117008003h502\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Generator<\/h4>\n<p><a name=\"id0117008003h503\" id=\"id0117008003h503\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h5>Generator voltage inspection<\/h5>\n<p>            1. Verify that the battery is fully charged. (See <a href=\"SM352781\">BATTERY INSPECTION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            2. Verify that the assembly condition of the drive belt is normal. (See <a href=\"SM352690\">DRIVE BELT INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            3. Turn off all electrical loads.<\/p>\n<p>            4. Start the engine.<\/p>\n<p>            5. Verify that the generator rotates smoothly without any noise while the engine is running.<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>If there is any noise, find the cause and repair or replace the generator.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            6. Measure the voltage at each terminal using a tester.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AM2ZZW00012320.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AM2ZZW00012320.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>If not as specified, find the cause and repair or replace the applicable part.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n                <b>Generator standard voltage [IG-ON]<\/b><\/p>\n<li>\n<p>Terminal 1A: B+<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Terminal 2A: Approx. 1 V or less<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Terminal 2B: Approx. 0 V<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n                <b>Generator standard voltage [Idle, 20 \u00b0C {68 \u00b0F}]<\/b><\/p>\n<li>\n<p>Terminal 1A: 13\u201415 V<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Terminal 2A: Approx. 3\u20148 V<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Terminal 2B: Turn the electrical loads (such as headlights, blower motor, rear window defogger, brake lights) on and verify that the voltage reading increases.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>          <a name=\"id0117008003h504\" id=\"id0117008003h504\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h5>Generator current inspection<\/h5>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">NOTE:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ol type=\"1\">\n<li>\n<p>Since the charging current decreases rapidly after starting the engine, carry out the following procedure quickly, and read the maximum current value.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>            1. Verify that the battery is fully charged. (See <a href=\"SM352781\">BATTERY INSPECTION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            2. Verify that the assembly condition of the drive belt is normal. (See <a href=\"SM352690\">DRIVE BELT INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            3. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See <a href=\"SM352783\">NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION\/CONNECTION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            4. Connect a tester, which can read <b>120 A or more<\/b>, between generator terminal 1A and generator terminal 1A cable.<\/p>\n<p>            5. Connect the negative battery cable. (See <a href=\"SM352783\">NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION\/CONNECTION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            6. Turn off all electrical loads.<\/p>\n<p>            7. Start the engine.<\/p>\n<p>            8. Increase engine speed to <b>2,500 rpm.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">NOTE:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ol type=\"1\">\n<li>\n<p>When the electrical load on the vehicle is low, the specified current cannot be verified although the generator is normal. In this case, increase the electrical load (Leave the headlights turned on for a while, then discharge the battery, or use a similar method.) and recheck.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>If the generator itself or the ambient temperature are too high, the specified current also cannot be verified. In this case, cool down the generator and recheck.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>            9. With the electric loads such as headlights, blower motor, rear window defogger, brake lights turned on, verify that the current value increases.<\/p>\n<ol type=\"1\">\n<li>\n<p>If the current value does not increase, replace the generator. (See <a href=\"SM352777\">GENERATOR REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n                <b>Generator generated current minimum value<\/b><\/p>\n<li>\n<p>70% of the nominal output current (nominal output current: 100 A)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>[Ambient temperature 20 \u00b0C {68 \u00b0F}, voltage 13.0\u201415.0 V, both engine and generator are hot]<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>          <a name=\"id0117008003h505\" id=\"id0117008003h505\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Generator Internal Parts<\/h4>\n<p><a name=\"id0117008003h506\" id=\"id0117008003h506\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h5>Rotor<\/h5>\n<p>            1. Measure the resistance between the slip rings using a ohmmeter.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AM6ZZW00002350.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AM6ZZW00002350.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>If not within specification, replace the rotor.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n                <b>Generator rotor resistance (between slip rings) [20 \u00b0C {68 \u00b0F}]<\/b><\/p>\n<li>\n<p>1.8\u20142.1 ohms<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            2. Verify that there is no continuity between the slip ring and core using a ohmmeter.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AM6ZZW00002351.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AM6ZZW00002351.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>If there is continuity, replace the rotor.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            3. Inspect the slip ring surface condition.<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>If the slip ring surface is rough, use a lathe or fine sandpaper to make it smooth.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>          <a name=\"id0117008003h507\" id=\"id0117008003h507\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h5>Stator coil<\/h5>\n<p>            1. Verify that the continuity is as indicated in the table.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AM6ZZW00002352.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AM6ZZW00002352.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AM6ZZW00002353.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AM6ZZW00002353.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>If there is any malfunction, replace the stator coil.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            2. Verify that there is no continuity between the stator coil leads and core using a ohmmeter.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AM3UUW00003268.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AM3UUW00003268.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>If there is continuity, replace the stator coil.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>          <a name=\"id0117008003h508\" id=\"id0117008003h508\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h5>Brush<\/h5>\n<p>            1. Inspect brushes for wear.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AM6ZZW00002355.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AM6ZZW00002355.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>If any brush is worn almost to or beyond the limit, replace all of the brushes.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n                <b>Generator brush length<\/b><\/p>\n<li>\n<p>Standard: 22.5 mm {0.886 in}<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Minimum: 5.0 mm {0.20 in}<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>          <a name=\"id0117008003h509\" id=\"id0117008003h509\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h5>Brush spring<\/h5>\n<p>            1. Measure the force of the brush spring using a spring pressure gauge.<\/p>\n<p>            2. Read the spring pressure gauge at the brush tip projection of <b>2 mm {0.08 in}.<\/b><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AM2ZZW00012321.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AM2ZZW00012321.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>If not within specification, replace the brush spring.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n                <b>Generator brush spring force<\/b><\/p>\n<li>\n<p>Standard: 4.1\u20145.3 N {0.42\u20140.54 kgf, 1.0\u20141.1 lbf}<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Minimum: 1.7 N {0.17 kgf, 0.38 lbf}<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>          <a name=\"id0117008003h510\" id=\"id0117008003h510\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h5>Rectifier (Using an analog circuit tester)<\/h5>\n<p>            1.
