Otherwise, evaporated gas from the battery could ignite.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Remove the battery filler caps when recharging to prevent battery deformation or damage.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Do not leave the battery in the vehicle when recharging. Otherwise, damage to under-hood components from electrolyte overflow, misting or gassing, may occur.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>When connecting to the battery recharger, make sure the battery cables are connected correctly.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>          <a name=\"id01170080070001\" id=\"id01170080070001\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Using GR8-1291:<\/h4>\n<p>            1. Remove the battery. (See <a href=\"SM352780\">BATTERY REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            2. Remove the battery filler caps.<\/p>\n<p>            3. Check the water level. If necessary, add water to the appropriate level.<\/p>\n<p>            4. Reinstall the caps.<\/p>\n<p>            5. Attach the large red clamp to the positive battery terminal and the large black clamp to the negative terminal.<\/p>\n<p>            6. Select the diagnostic icon in the Main Menu, then press the NEXT key.<\/p>\n<p>            7. Follow the on-screen instructions to input the appropriate information. Refer to the Mazda GR8-1291 Instruction Manual for more information.<\/p>\n<p>            8. The GR8-1291 will test and charge the battery. Before the diagnostic charging results are displayed, use the keypad on the Control Module to input the last 5 digits of the vehicle&#8217;s VIN and press NEXT to continue.<\/p>\n<p>            9. After the charging is completed, the Mazda GR8-1291 will print out the diagnostic charging results and display one of the following results listed below. Retest at the battery terminals.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>\n          <a name=\"id01170080070002\" id=\"id01170080070002\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Without Using GR8-1291:<\/h4>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">WARNING:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>Remove the battery filler caps when recharging to prevent battery deformation or damage.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">CAUTION:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>Do not quick charge for more than 30 min. It will damage the battery.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            1. Remove the battery. Connect a battery charger to the battery and adjust the charging current as follows.<\/p>\n<ul>\n                <b>Battery slow charge current<\/b><\/p>\n<li>\n<p>46B24L (45 A\u00b7h\/20HR): 3.5\u20144.5 A<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n                <b>Battery quick charge current [30 min]<\/b><\/p>\n<li>\n<p>46B24L (45 A\u00b7h\/20HR): 25 A<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            4.
