Measure the distance from the center of the upper surface of the pedal pad to the floor covering and verify that it is as specified.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00005071.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00005071.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n                <b>Brake pedal height (reference value)<\/b><\/p>\n<li>\n<p>145.4 mm {5.724 in}<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>If not within the specification, inspect the following items and repair or replace the applicable part if there is any malfunction.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<ul type=\"square\">\n<li>\n<p>Power brake unit installation condition<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Deformation of or damage to the power brake unit fork<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Brake pedal installation condition<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Clevis pin wear<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<li>\n<p>If there is no malfunction in the above items, replace the brake pedal. (See <a href=\"SM353012\">BRAKE PEDAL REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>          <a name=\"id04110080110002\" id=\"id04110080110002\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Pedal Play Inspection<\/h4>\n<p>            1. Pump the pedal several times to release the vacuum in the power brake unit.<\/p>\n<p>            2. Gently depress the pedal by hand and measure the pedal play.<\/p>\n<ul>\n                <b>Brake pedal play<\/b><\/p>\n<li>\n<p>4.7 mm {0.19 in} or less<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>If not within the specification, inspect the wear of the clevis pin. Replace it if there is any malfunction. (See <a href=\"SM353012\">BRAKE PEDAL REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>If there is no malfunction in the clevis pin, there is a possibility that the power brake unit has some malfunction. Verify that there are no malfunctions, and replace it if necessary. (See <a href=\"SM353017\">POWER BRAKE UNIT INSPECTION<\/a>.) (See <a href=\"SM353018\">POWER BRAKE UNIT REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>          <a name=\"id04110080110003\" id=\"id04110080110003\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Pedal-to-floor Clearance Inspection<\/h4>\n<p>            1. Start the engine and depress the brake pedal with a force of <b>147 N {15.0 kgf, 33.0 lbf}<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>            2. Measure the distance from the center of the upper surface of the pedal pad to the floor covering and verify that it is as specified.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00005072.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00005072.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n                <b>Brake pedal-to-floor clearance (Brake pedal when depressed at 147 N {15.0 kgf, 33.0 lbf})<\/b><\/p>\n<li>\n<p>92.3 mm {3.63 in} or more<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>If it is less than the specification, inspect for air in the brake line.
