(See <a href=\"SM353018\">POWER BRAKE UNIT REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>          <a name=\"id04110080170001\" id=\"id04110080170001\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Without Using SST<\/h4>\n<p><a name=\"id04110080170002\" id=\"id04110080170002\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h5>Operation inspection<\/h5>\n<p>            1. With the engine stopped, pump the brake pedal a few times.<\/p>\n<p>            2. With the brake pedal depressed, start the engine.<\/p>\n<p>            3. If the brake pedal moves down slightly immediately after starting the engine, the unit is normal.<br \/>\n          <a name=\"id04110080170003\" id=\"id04110080170003\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h5>Vacuum function inspection<\/h5>\n<p>            1. Start the engine.<\/p>\n<p>            2. Stop the engine after driving the vehicle for <b>1\u20142 min<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>            3. Depress the brake pedal with normal force.<\/p>\n<p>            4. If the first pedal stroke is long and becomes shorter with subsequent strokes, the unit is normal.<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>If a problem is found, inspect for damage to or improper installation of the check valve and vacuum hose. After repairing, inspect again.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>          <a name=\"id04110080170004\" id=\"id04110080170004\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h5>Vacuum loss function inspection<\/h5>\n<p>            1. Start the engine.<\/p>\n<p>            2. Depress the brake pedal with normal force.<\/p>\n<p>            3. With the brake pedal is depressed, stop the engine.<\/p>\n<p>            4. Hold the brake pedal depressed for <b>approx. 30 s<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>            5. If the brake pedal height does not change during this time, the unit is normal.<br \/>\n          <a name=\"id04110080170005\" id=\"id04110080170005\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Using SST<\/h4>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">NOTE:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>When performing the inspection using the <b>SST<\/b>, inspect the brake pipe on the left or right front wheel.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>The following procedure and figures show the inspection for the brake pipe on the left front wheel.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>          <a name=\"id04110080170006\" id=\"id04110080170006\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h5>Pre-inspection preparation<\/h5>\n<p>            1. Disconnect the brake pipe from the front brake hose (LH).<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00005092.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00005092.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            2. Install the <b>SSTs<\/b> to the brake pipe as shown in the figure.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00005093.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00005093.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            3. Bleed the brake line and the <b>SSTs<\/b> of air. Bleed the air form the <b>SSTs<\/b> using bleeder screw A.<\/p>\n<p>            4. Install the pedal force gauge to the brake pedal.<\/p>\n<p>            5. Connect the vacuum gauge to the vacuum line.<br \/>\n          <a name=\"id04110080170007\" id=\"id04110080170007\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h5>Vacuum loss inspection<\/h5>\n<p>            1. Start the engine.<\/p>\n<p>            2. Depress the brake pedal with a force of <b>200 N {20.4 kgf, 45.0 lbf}<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>            3. Stop the engine when the vacuum gauge reading reaches <b>68 kPa {510 mmHg, 20 inHg}<\/b> with the brake pedal depressed.<\/p>\n<p>            4. With the engine off, observe the vacuum gauge for <b>15 s<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>            5. If the gauge has dropped <b>3.3 kPa {25 mmHg, 0.97 inHg}<\/b> or less, the unit is normal.<br \/>\n          <a name=\"id04110080170008\" id=\"id04110080170008\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h5>Lack of hydraulic pressure inspection<\/h5>\n<p>            1. Start the engine. Depress the brake pedal when the vacuum reaches <b>66.7 kPa {500 mmHg, 19.7 inHg}<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>            2. After the inspection, remove the <b>SSTs<\/b>, install the brake pipe to the original position, and then bleed the air from the brake line. (See <a href=\"SM352996\">BRAKE HOSE (FRONT) REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [WITH SINGLE PISTON CALIPER]<\/a>.)
