Be careful not to spill any on painted surfaces. In addition, if there is any brake fluid on the wiring harness, the wire insulation may corrode causing a malfunction such as a short circuit. If brake fluid gets on a painted surface or wiring harness, wash and flush it off completely with water immediately.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">NOTE:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>Keep the fluid level in the brake fluid reserve tank at 3\/4 full or more during the air bleeding.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Begin air bleeding with the brake caliper that is furthest from the master cylinder.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>For vehicles with 4-pot opposed piston calipers, perform air bleeding with the bleeder screw on the exterior side first, then the interior one.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00005687.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00005687.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<table border=\"1\" cellpadding=\"0\" cellspacing=\"@colsep\" bordercolor=\"#CCCCCC\" frame=\"box\" rules=\"all\">\n<tbody valign=\"\" cellspacing=\"1\" rowspan=\"\">\n<tr valign=\"\" align=\"\" cellspacing=\"\" rowspan=\"\">\n<td valign=\"middle\" align=\"center\" cellspacing=\"\" rowspan=\"\" colspan=\"NaN\">\n<p>Brake fluid type<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr valign=\"\" align=\"\" cellspacing=\"\" rowspan=\"\">\n<td valign=\"middle\" align=\"center\" cellspacing=\"\" rowspan=\"\" colspan=\"NaN\">\n<p>SAE J1703 or FMVSS116 DOT-3<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>            1. Remove the cap from the brake fluid reserve tank and add brake fluid.<\/p>\n<p>            2. Remove the bleeder cap on the brake caliper, and attach a vinyl tube to the bleeder screw.<\/p>\n<p>            3. Place the other end of the vinyl tube in a clear container and fill the container with fluid during air bleeding.<\/p>\n<p>            4. Working with two people, one should pump the brake pedal several times and depress and hold the pedal down.<\/p>\n<p>            5. While one technician depresses the brake pedal and another technician loosens the bleeder screw, drain any fluid containing air bubbles, and then retighten the bleeder screw.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00005098.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00005098.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n                <b>Tightening torque<\/b><\/p>\n<li>\n<p>Front (with single piston caliper): 9\u201412 N\u00b7m {92\u2014122 kgf\u00b7cm, 80\u2014106 in\u00b7lbf}<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Front (with 4-pot opposed piston caliper): 12\u201416 N\u00b7m {123\u2014163 kgf\u00b7cm, 107\u2014141 in\u00b7lbf}<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Rear: 6\u20148 N\u00b7m {62\u201481 kgf\u00b7cm, 54\u201470 in\u00b7lbf}<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            6. Repeat Steps (4) and (5) until no air bubbles are seen.<\/p>\n<p>            7. Perform air bleeding as described in the above procedures for all brake calipers.<\/p>\n<p>            8. Perform air bleeding for the left and right rear calipers using the following procedure.<\/p>\n<p>              a. Remove the rear caliper and suspend it using a cable in a location out of way.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00005099.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00005099.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>              b. Slowly rotate the piston counterclockwise <b>approx. 180\u00b0<\/b> using the <b>SST<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00005100.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00005100.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>              c. Loosen the bleeder screw.<\/p>\n<p>              d. Rotate the piston clockwise slowly using the <b>SST<\/b> and push the piston inwards completely to bleed air.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00005101.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00005101.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>              e. Tighten the bleeder screw.<\/p>\n<ul>\n                  <b>Tightening torque<\/b><\/p>\n<li>\n<p>6\u20148 N\u00b7m {62\u201481 kgf\u00b7cm, 54\u201470 in\u00b7lbf}<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>              f. Repeat the procedure from Steps (2) to (4) until no air bubbles are seen.<\/p>\n<p>              g. Place the piston groove in the position shown in the figure using the <b>SST<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00005102.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00005102.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>              h. Return the rear caliper to the original position and install the rear caliper installation bolt.<\/p>\n<ul>\n                  <b>Tightening torque<\/b><\/p>\n<li>\n<p>20\u201425 N\u00b7m {2.1\u20142.5 kgf\u00b7m, 15\u201418 ft\u00b7lbf}<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>              i. Repeat the following procedure three times:<\/p>\n<p>                i. Working with two people, one should pump the brake pedal several times and depress and hold the pedal down.<\/p>\n<p>                ii. While the brake pedal is depressed, the other person should loosen the bleeder screw, drain out any fluid containing air bubbles, and tighten the bleeder screw.<\/p>\n<ul>\n                    <b>Tightening torque<\/b><\/p>\n<li>\n<p>6\u20148 N\u00b7m {62\u201481 kgf\u00b7cm, 54\u201470 in\u00b7lbf}<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>                iii. Pump the brake pedal ten times.<\/p>\n<p>                iv. Pull the parking brake lever ten times.<\/p>\n<p>                v. Repeatedly loosen and tighten the bleeder screw five times with the brake pedal depressed.<\/p>\n<ul>\n                    <b>Tightening torque<\/b><\/p>\n<li>\n<p>6\u20148 N\u00b7m {62\u201481 kgf\u00b7cm, 54\u201470 in\u00b7lbf}<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            9. Clean the bleeder screws and the calipers.<\/p>\n<p>            10.
