2016 – MX-5 – Brakes<\/h2>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

PARKING BRAKE LEVER ADJUSTMENT<\/h3>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

With AT Vehicles<\/h4>\n

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION\/CONNECTION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

2. Disengage the shift panel compartment from the rear console. ( SHIFT PANEL REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>)<\/p>\n

3. Rotate the shift panel compartment in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

4. Remove the upper panel. (See UPPER PANEL REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

5. Pump the brake pedal a few times.<\/p>\n

6. Turn the adjusting nut and adjust the parking brake lever. (See PARKING BRAKE LEVER INSPECTION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

7. After adjustment, pull the parking brake lever one notch and verify that the brake system warning light illuminates.<\/p>\n

8. Release the parking brake.<\/p>\n

9. Verify that the rear brakes do not drag.
\n <\/a><\/p>\n

With MT Vehicles<\/h4>\n

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION\/CONNECTION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

2. Remove the following parts:<\/p>\n

a. Shift lever knob (See TRANSMISSION REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [M66M-D]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

b. Shift panel component (See SHIFT PANEL REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

c. Upper panel (See UPPER PANEL REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

3. Pump the brake pedal a few times.<\/p>\n

4. Turn the adjusting nut and adjust the parking brake lever. (See PARKING BRAKE LEVER INSPECTION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

5. After adjustment, pull the parking brake lever one notch and verify that the brake system warning light illuminates.<\/p>\n

6. Release the parking brake.<\/p>\n

7. Verify that the rear brakes do not drag.<\/p>\n
