2016 – MX-5 – Transmission\/Transaxle<\/h2>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

OIL SEAL (EXTENSION HOUSING) REPLACEMENT [M66M-D]<\/h3>\n

1. Remove the tunnel member.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

2. Detach the HO2S clip from the catalytic converter (TWC). (See HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (HO2S) REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

3. Disconnect the catalytic converter (TWC) from the exhaust manifold. (See EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

4. Suspend the catalytic converter (TWC) using a cable as shown in the figure.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

5. Remove the propeller shaft. (See PROPELLER SHAFT REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

6. Press the position of the oil seal shown in the figure with a flathead screwdriver and raise the oil seal.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

7. Insert the flathead screwdriver into the gap made in Step 7 and remove the oil seal.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

8. Using the SST<\/b> (49 B025 004), tap in a new oil seal until it contacts the case.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

9. Apply the specified oil to the oil seal lip.<\/p>\n

10. Install the propeller shaft. (See PROPELLER SHAFT REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

11. Install the catalytic converter (TWC) to the exhaust manifold. (See EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

12. Install the HO2S clip to the catalytic converter (TWC). (See HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (HO2S) REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

13. Install the tunnel member.<\/p>\n
