Turn off the engine and wait until they are cool before replacing ATF.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">CAUTION:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>Water or foreign objects entering the connector can cause a poor connection or corrosion. Be sure not to drop water or foreign objects on the connector when disconnecting it.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See <a href=\"SM352783\">NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION\/CONNECTION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            2. Drain the ATF. (See <a href=\"SM353173\">AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID (ATF) REPLACEMENT [SJ6A-EL]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">CAUTION:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>Do not damage the installation surface of the transmission case and the oil pan.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Do not deform the oil pan.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            3. Remove the oil pan and gasket.<\/p>\n<p>            4. Remove the oil strainer from the control valve body component.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003553.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003553.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            5. Remove the O-ring from the oil strainer.<\/p>\n<p>            6. Disconnect the connectors from the solenoids.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003554.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003554.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            7. Disconnect the coupler component from the clamps.<\/p>\n<p>            8. Remove the lock plate from the control valve body component.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003555.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003555.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            9. Pull the TFT sensor from the control valve body component.<\/p>\n<p>            10. Remove the coupler component mounting bolt from the transmission case.<\/p>\n<p>            11. Remove the coupler component from the transmission case.<\/p>\n<p>            12. Remove the O-ring from the coupler component.<\/p>\n<p>            13. Install a new O-ring to the coupler component.<\/p>\n<p>            14. Tighten the coupler component mounting bolt to the transmission case.<\/p>\n<ul>\n                <b>Tightening torque<\/b><\/p>\n<li>\n<p>3.9\u20146.9 N\u00b7m {40\u201449 kgf\u00b7cm, 35\u201442 in\u00b7lbf}<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            15. Install the TFT sensor and the lock plate with the bolt to the control valve body component.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003555.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003555.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n                <b>Tightening torque<\/b><\/p>\n<li>\n<p>8.0\u201412.0 N\u00b7m {82\u2014122 kgf\u00b7cm, 26\u201442 in\u00b7lbf}<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            16. Connect the coupler component to the clamps.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003554.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003554.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003567.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003567.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            17. Connect the connectors to the solenoids.<\/p>\n<p>            18. Coat a new O-ring with ATF and install it to the oil strainer.<\/p>\n<p>            19. Install the oil strainer to the control valve body component with the bolts.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003553.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003553.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">CAUTION:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>Be careful not to allow foreign matter to penetrate the interior of the transmission.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            20. Clean the contact surface of the oil pan and transmission case.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/E5U513ZW5069.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/E5U513ZW5069.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">CAUTION:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>Do not damage the fitting surface of the transmission case and the oil pan.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Do not deform the oil pan.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            21. Install a new oil pan gasket and the oil pan to the transmission case.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003569.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003569.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">CAUTION:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>Be careful not to tighten the bolts excessively because the oil pan gasket is made of cork.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            22. Tighten the oil pan installation bolt.<\/p>\n<ul>\n                <b>Tightening torque<\/b><\/p>\n<li>\n<p>6.0\u20147.9 N\u00b7m {62\u201480 kgf\u00b7cm, 54\u201469 in\u00b7lbf}<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            23. Connect the negative battery cable. (See <a href=\"SM352783\">NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION\/CONNECTION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            24. Add ATF and, with the engine idling, inspect the ATF level and inspect for leakage.
