Turn off the engine and wait until they are cool before replacing ATF.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Using compressed air can cause dirt and other particles to fly out, causing injury to the eyes. Wear protective eyeglasses whenever using compressed air.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">CAUTION:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>Clean the transmission exterior thoroughly with a steam cleaner or cleaning solvents before removal.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>If any old sealant gets into the transmission during installation of the oil pan, a malfunction may occur in the transmission case and oil pan. Clean with cleaning fluids.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See <a href=\"SM352783\">NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION\/CONNECTION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            2. Drain the ATF. (See <a href=\"SM353173\">AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID (ATF) REPLACEMENT [SJ6A-EL]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            3. Remove the oil pan and the oil pan gasket.<\/p>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">CAUTION:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>Do not damage the fitting surface of the transmission case and the oil pan.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Do not to deform the oil pan.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            4. Remove the magnets from the oil pan.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00001245.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00001245.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">NOTE:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>Examine the chips and particles in the oil pan to determine what type of wear has occurred in the transmission. Steel particles (magnetic) indicate bearing, gear and plate wear. Brass particles (non-magnetic) indicate bushing wear.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            5. Remove the oil strainer from the control valve body component.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003553.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003553.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            6. Remove the O-ring from the oil strainer.<\/p>\n<p>            7. Disconnect the connectors from the solenoids.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003554.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003554.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            8. Disconnect the coupler component from the clamps.<\/p>\n<p>            9. Remove the lock plate from the control valve body component.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003555.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003555.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            10. Pull the TFT sensor from the control valve body component.<\/p>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">CAUTION:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>Verify that the coupler component does not interfere with the control valve body component when installing.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            11. Fix the coupler component with tape to the transmission case as shown in the figure.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003556.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003556.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            12. Remove the detent spring cover and detent spring from the control valve body component.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003557.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003557.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            13. Remove the bolts from the transmission case as shown in the figure.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/ARDJJW00005151.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/ARDJJW00005151.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">CAUTION:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>Do not to drop the control valve body component.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            14. Disconnect the manual valve link and remove the control valve body component.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003558.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003558.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            15. Remove the check valve sub-component and the compression spring from the transmission case.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003559.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003559.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            16. Remove the transmission case gaskets and the brake drum gaskets from the transmission case.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003560.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003560.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">CAUTION:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>Be careful of the C-2 and B-3 accumulator pistons may eject.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            17. Apply compressed air into the oil passage as shown in the figure and remove the accumulator pistons (C-2, B-3) and the compression springs from the transmission case.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003561.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003561.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            18. Remove the snap rings from the accumulator pistons (C-2, B-3) using a flathead screwdriver.<\/p>\n<p>            19. Remove the compression springs from the accumulator pistons (C-2, B-3).<\/p>\n<p>            20. Remove the O-rings from the accumulator pistons (C-2, B-3) using a flathead screwdriver.<\/p>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">CAUTION:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>Be careful of the C-3 accumulator pistons may eject.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            21. Apply compressed air into the oil passage as shown in the figure and remove the accumulator piston (C-3) and compression springs from the transmission case.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003562.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003562.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            22. Remove the O-rings from the accumulator piston (C-3) using a flathead screwdriver.<\/p>\n<p>            23.
