Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See <a href=\"SM352783\">NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION\/CONNECTION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            2. Perform the following procedure to remove the selector lever knob.<\/p>\n<p>              a. Shift the selector lever to the N range.<\/p>\n<p>              b. Insert the tool (width: <b>2 mm {0.08 in} or less<\/b>, thickness: <b>1 mm {0.04 in} or less<\/b>) as shown in the figure.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/ARDJJW00004607.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/ARDJJW00004607.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>              c. Lift the tool horizontally in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure and detach the tab, and then remove the lock release button cover in the direction of arrow (2).<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00005822.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00005822.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>              d. Remove the spring.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003574.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003574.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>              e. Remove the selector lever knob.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003575.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003575.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            3. Remove the following parts:<\/p>\n<p>              a. Shift panel component (See <a href=\"SM356197\">SHIFT PANEL REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>              b. Upper panel (See <a href=\"SM356228\">UPPER PANEL REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>              c. Parking brake lever boot panel (See <a href=\"SM356180\">PARKING BRAKE LEVER BOOT PANEL REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>              d. Rear console (See <a href=\"SM356194\">REAR CONSOLE REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>              e. Front console panel (See <a href=\"SM356230\">FRONT CONSOLE PANEL REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>              f. Front console component (See <a href=\"SM356193\">FRONT CONSOLE REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            4. Disconnect the connector and wiring harness clip.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00002845.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00002845.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            5. Disconnect the selector lever component connector.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00002843.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00002843.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            6. Place alignment marks on the control rod bracket and nut.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003576.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003576.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            7. Remove the nut.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003577.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003577.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            8. Disconnect the control rod from the lever clip of the selector lever component.<\/p>\n<p>            9. Remove the nuts from the selector lever component.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003578.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003578.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            10. Set the short cord aside and remove the selector lever component.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003579.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003579.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            11. Pass the short cord through the installation hole and install the selector lever component.<\/p>\n<p>            12. Install the nuts to the selector lever component.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003578.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003578.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            13. Assemble the control rod to the lever clip of the selector lever component.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003580.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003580.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            14. Align the alignment marks on the control rod bracket and nut, and install the nut.<\/p>\n<p>            15. Connect the selector lever component connector.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00002843.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00002843.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            16. Connect the connector and wiring harness clip.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00002845.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00002845.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            17. Install the following parts:<\/p>\n<p>              a. Front console component (See <a href=\"SM356193\">FRONT CONSOLE REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>              b. Front console panel (See <a href=\"SM356230\">FRONT CONSOLE PANEL REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>              c. Rear console (See <a href=\"SM356194\">REAR CONSOLE REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>              d. Parking brake lever boot panel (See <a href=\"SM356180\">PARKING BRAKE LEVER BOOT PANEL REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>              e. Upper panel (See <a href=\"SM356228\">UPPER PANEL REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>              f. Shift panel component (See <a href=\"SM356197\">SHIFT PANEL REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            18. Perform the following procedure to install the selector lever knob.<\/p>\n<p>              a. Install the spring to the selector lever knob.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003581.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003581.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">CAUTION:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>Install the spring so that it is stopped by the stopper.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>              b. Install the lock release button cover to the selector lever knob.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXZZW00003976.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXZZW00003976.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>                i. Attach the lock release button cover hook to the position on the selector lever knob shown in the figure.<\/p>\n<p>                ii. Press the lower end of the lock release button cover in the direction of the arrow and press in the tab.<\/p>\n<p>              c. Install the selector lever knob to the selector lever component.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003582.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003582.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>              d. Pull the select lever knob upward and verify that it is securely installed.<\/p>\n<p>            19. Connect the negative battery cable. (See <a href=\"SM352783\">NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION\/CONNECTION<\/a>.)<br \/>\n          <a name=\"id05140026020002\" id=\"id05140026020002\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Control Rod Removal\/Installation<\/h4>\n<p>            1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See <a href=\"SM352783\">NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION\/CONNECTION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            2. Remove the following parts:<\/p>\n<p>              a. Selector lever knob (See <a href=\"\"#id05140026020001\">Selector Lever Removal\/Installation<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>              b. Shift panel component (See <a href=\"SM356197\">SHIFT PANEL REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>              c. Upper panel (See <a href=\"SM356228\">UPPER PANEL REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>              d. Parking brake lever boot panel (See <a href=\"SM356180\">PARKING BRAKE LEVER BOOT PANEL REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>              e. Rear console (See <a href=\"SM356194\">REAR CONSOLE REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>              f. Front console panel (See <a href=\"SM356230\">FRONT CONSOLE PANEL REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>              g. Front console component (See <a href=\"SM356193\">FRONT CONSOLE REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            3. Disconnect the connector and wiring harness clip.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00002845.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00002845.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            4. Place a clean rag behind the engine so that the engine does not contact the rear housing when it is tilted.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004812.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004812.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            5. Remove the front crossmember under cover. (See <a href=\"SM356179\">FRONT CROSSMEMBER UNDER COVER REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            6. Disconnect the control rod from the selector lever component. (See <a href=\"SM353197\">AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFT MECHANISM REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            7. Remove the tunnel member.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003818.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003818.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            8. Disconnect the HO2S connector. (See <a href=\"SM352822\">HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (HO2S) REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            9. Disconnect the TWC from the exhaust manifold (WU-TWC). (See <a href=\"SM352752\">EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0]<\/a>.) (See <a href=\"\"#id05140026020006\">TWC Installation Note<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            10. Suspend the TWC using a cable as shown in the figure.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00002847.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00002847.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            11. Remove the power plant frame. (See <a href=\"SM353157\">POWER PLANT FRAME REMOVAL [M66M-D]<\/a>.) (See <a href=\"SM353158\">POWER PLANT FRAME INSTALLATION [M66M-D]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            12. Tilt the transmission while being careful not to allow parts on the back of the engine to contact the vehicle body.<\/p>\n<p>            13. Remove the insulator. (See <a href=\"\"#id05140026020005\">Insulator Installation Note<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00002848.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00002848.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            14. Remove in the order indicated in the table.<\/p>\n<p>            15. Install in the reverse order of removal.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003583.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\"
