Switch the ignition ON (engine off).<\/p>\n<p>            2. Shift the selector lever to the P position.<\/p>\n<p>            3. Verify that lock release button cannot be pressed in and the selector lever cannot be shifted from the P to R position when the brake pedal is not depressed.<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>If it can be verified, go to the next step.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>If not as verified, inspect the following parts:<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<ul type=\"square\">\n<li>\n<p>Shift-lock solenoid (See <a href=\"\"#id05140026040001\">Shift-Lock System Inspection<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Not P position switch (See <a href=\"SM353200\">NOT P POSITION SWITCH INSPECTION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Brake switch (See <a href=\"SM353011\">BRAKE PEDAL INSPECTION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Start stop unit (See <a href=\"SM356096\">START STOP UNIT INSPECTION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>PCM (See <a href=\"SM352817\">PCM INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            4. Verify that the selector lever can be shifted from P to R position while the lock release button is pressed with brake pedal depressed.<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>If it can be verified, go to the next step.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>If not as verified, inspect the following parts:<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<ul type=\"square\">\n<li>\n<p>Shift-lock solenoid (See <a href=\"\"#id05140026040001\">Shift-Lock System Inspection<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Not P position switch (See <a href=\"SM353200\">NOT P POSITION SWITCH INSPECTION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Brake switch (See <a href=\"SM353011\">BRAKE PEDAL INSPECTION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Start stop unit (See <a href=\"SM356096\">START STOP UNIT INSPECTION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>PCM (See <a href=\"SM352817\">PCM INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<p>          <a name=\"id05140026040002\" id=\"id05140026040002\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Shift-Lock Solenoid Inspection<\/h4>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">NOTE:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>The shift-lock solenoid is built into the selector lever component.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See <a href=\"SM352783\">NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION\/CONNECTION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            2. Remove the following parts:<\/p>\n<p>              a. Selector lever knob (See <a href=\"SM353197\">AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFT MECHANISM REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>              b. Shift panel component (See <a href=\"SM356197\">SHIFT PANEL REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            3. Reconnect the negative battery cable. (See <a href=\"SM352783\">NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION\/CONNECTION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            4. (See <a href=\"SM353197\">AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFT MECHANISM REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>          <a name=\"id05140026040003\" id=\"id05140026040003\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Shift-lock Override Button Inspection<\/h4>\n<p>            1. Switch the ignition off.<\/p>\n<p>            2. Verify that the selector lever is in the P position.<\/p>\n<p>            3. Without the brake pedal depressed, verify that the selector lever cannot be shifted from the P position.<\/p>\n<p>            4. Remove the shift-lock override cover using a tape-wrapped flathead screwdriver.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003586.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003586.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            5. Insert the flathead screwdriver and press the shift-lock override button.<\/p>\n<p>            6. Verify that the selector lever can be shifted from the P position.<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>If not as verified, replace the selector lever.
