Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See <a href=\"SM352783\">NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION\/CONNECTION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            2. Remove the front under cover. (See <a href=\"SM356165\">FRONT UNDER COVER REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            3. Disconnect the intermediate shaft from the steering gear and linkage. (See <a href=\"SM353238\">INTERMEDIATE SHAFT REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            4. Remove the steering gear and linkage. (See <a href=\"SM353231\">STEERING GEAR AND LINKAGE REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            5. Remove the tie-rod end from the steering gear and linkage. (See <a href=\"SM353232\">STEERING GEAR AND LINKAGE DISASSEMBLY<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            6. Inspect the tie-rod end for damage and the boot of the tie-rod end for cracks.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003467.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003467.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>If there is any malfunction, replace the tie-rod end. (See <a href=\"SM353234\">STEERING GEAR AND LINKAGE ASSEMBLY<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            7. Inspect the tie-rod end for excessive play.<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>If there is any malfunction, replace the tie-rod end. (See <a href=\"SM353234\">STEERING GEAR AND LINKAGE ASSEMBLY<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            8. Rotate the tie-rod end <b>5 times<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>            9. Install 2 nuts to the tie-rod end and measure the rotational torque of the tie-rod end using a torque wrench.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003468.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003468.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n                <b>Tie-rod end rotational torque<\/b><\/p>\n<li>\n<p>0.5\u20143.0 N\u00b7m {5.1\u201430 kgf\u00b7cm, 4.5\u201426 in\u00b7lbf}<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>If not within the specification, replace the tie-rod end.
