Do not dispose of a live (undeployed) air bag module, pre-tensioner seat belt or lap pre-tensioner seat belt. If the SSTs (Deployment tool and Adapter harness) are not available, consult the nearest Mazda representative for assistance.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>The lap pre-tensioner seat belt may not have operated (deployed) even if the pre-tensioner seat belt has due to a vehicle collision. A live (non-deployed) pre-tensioner may accidentally operate (deploy) when it is disposed of and cause serious injury. When disposing of the seat belt, verify that the pre-tensioner seat belt and lap pre-tensioner seat belt have operated (deployed).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">CAUTION:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>Deploying the air bag modules, pre-tensioner seat belts or lap pre-tensioner seat belts inside the vehicle may cause damage to the vehicle interior. When the vehicle is not to be scrapped, always deploy the air bag modules, pre-tensioner seat belts or lap pre-tensioner seat belts outside the vehicle.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>If the vehicle is to be scrapped, or when disposing of any air bag modules, pre-tensioner seat belts or lap pre-tensioner seat belts, operate (deploy) them inside the vehicle by following the deployment procedure below and using the <b>SST (Deployment tool)<\/b>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>When disposing of an operated (deployed) air bag module, pre-tensioner seat belt and lap pre-tensioner seat belt, refer to \u201cAIR BAG MODULE AND PRE-TENSIONER SEAT BELT DISPOSAL PROCEDURES\u201d. (See <a href=\"SM353463\">AIR BAG MODULE AND PRE-TENSIONER SEAT BELT DISPOSAL PROCEDURES [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>          <a name=\"id0810b180110001\" id=\"id0810b180110001\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Deployment Procedure for Inside of Vehicle<\/h4>\n<p>            1. Inspect the <b>SST (Deployment tool)<\/b>. (See <a href=\"SM353461\">INSPECTION OF SST (DEPLOYMENT TOOL) [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            2. Move the vehicle to an open space, away from strong winds, and close all of the vehicle doors and windows.<\/p>\n<p>            3. Switch the ignition off.<\/p>\n<p>            4. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for <b>1 min or more<\/b>. (See <a href=\"SM352783\">NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION\/CONNECTION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            5. Follow the procedure below for operating (deploying) the applicable air bag module, pre-tensioner seat belt or lap pre-tensioner seat belt.<\/p>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">NOTE:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>The connector part of the air bag module, pre-tensioner seat belt, lap pre-tensioner seat belt, and the <b>SST (Adapter harness)<\/b> burns out from the high heat when the inflator is operated (deployed).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>          <a name=\"id0810b180110002\" id=\"id0810b180110002\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Driver-side Air Bag Module<\/h4>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">WARNING:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>The driver-side air bag module is a dual inflator type. If one inflator is forced to operate (deploy), the other may operate (deploy) accidentally. To prevent injury while disposing of the air bag module, make sure to operate (deploy) both driver-side air bag module inflators simultaneously, following the procedure below.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">NOTE:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>The SSTs, two types of adapter harnesses (for inflators No.1 and No.2) and two deployment tools are to be used to operate (deploy) the driver-side air bag module.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            1. Remove the driver-side air bag module. (See <a href=\"SM353476\">DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            2. Connect the <b>SSTs (Adapter harness)<\/b> to the driver-side air bag module as shown in the figure.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003958.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003958.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            3. Install the driver-side air bag module. (See <a href=\"SM353477\">DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            4. Connect the <b>SST (Deployment tool)<\/b> to the <b>SSTs (Adapter harness)<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003959.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003959.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            5. Connect the <b>SST (Deployment tool)<\/b> to the battery. Connect the power supply red clip to the positive battery terminal, and the black clip to the negative battery terminal.<\/p>\n<p>            6. Verify that the red lamp on the <b>SST (Deployment tool)<\/b> is illuminated.<\/p>\n<p>            7. Verify that all persons are standing <b>at least 6 m {20 ft}<\/b> away from the vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>            8. Press the activation switch on the <b>SST (Deployment tool)<\/b> connected with <b>49 L066 002<\/b> (a yellow connector) of the <b>SST (Adapter harness)<\/b>, and <b>after 3 s<\/b>, press the activation switch on the other <b>SST (Deployment tool)<\/b> to operate (deploy) the driver-side air bag module (both inflators).<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003960.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003960.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">WARNING:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>Verify that air bag module operation (explosive) sound occurs twice. If no operation (explosive) sound was heard or a single operation (explosive) sound was heard, both inflators would not have operated (deployed) properly. This may cause serious injury if the air bag module operates (deploy) unexpectedly. If the two operation (explosive) sounds are not heard, perform Step 8 again. If a total of two operation (explosive) sounds cannot be verified even though Step 8 is performed again, leave the air bag module alone for 30 min or more before approaching it again.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>The air bag module is very hot immediately after it is operated (deployed). You can get burned. Do not touch the air bag module for at least 15 min after deployment.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            9. Disconnect the <b>SST (Deployment tool)<\/b> from the <b>SSTs (Adapter harness)<\/b>.<br \/>\n          <a name=\"id0810b180110003\" id=\"id0810b180110003\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Passenger-side Air Bag Module<\/h4>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">WARNING:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>The passenger-side air bag module is a dual inflator type. If one inflator is forced to operate (deploy), the other may operate (deploy) accidentally. Remove the following parts:<\/p>\n<p>              a. Passenger-side scuff plate (See <a href=\"SM356211\">SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>              b. Passenger-side front side trim (See <a href=\"SM356199\">FRONT SIDE TRIM REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>              c. Passenger-side A-pillar trim (See <a href=\"SM356198\">A-PILLAR TRIM REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>              d. Passenger-side lower panel (See <a href=\"SM356210\">PASSENGER-SIDE LOWER PANEL REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            2. Remove the duct. (See <a href=\"SM353465\">PASSENGER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            3. Using a flathead screwdriver, lift the locking device carefully, however do not remove it.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003961.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003961.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            4. Disconnect the passenger-side air bag module connectors.<\/p>\n<p>            5. Connect the <b>SSTs (Adapter harness)<\/b> to the passenger-side air bag module as shown in the figure.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003962.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003962.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            6. Connect the <b>SST (Deployment tool)<\/b> to the <b>SSTs (Adapter harness)<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003963.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003963.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            7. Connect the <b>SST (Deployment tool)<\/b> to the battery. Connect the power supply red clip to the positive battery terminal, and the black clip to the negative battery terminal.<\/p>\n<p>            8. Verify that the red lamp on the <b>SST (Deployment tool)<\/b> is illuminated.<\/p>\n<p>            9. Disconnect the connector.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003964.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003964.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            2. Connect the <b>SST (Adapter harness)<\/b> to the seat connector as shown in the figure.<\/p>\n<p>            3. Connect the <b>SST (Deployment tool)<\/b> to the <b>SST (Adapter harness)<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003965.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003965.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            4. Connect the <b>SST (Deployment tool)<\/b> to the battery. Connect the power supply red clip to the positive battery terminal, and the black clip to the negative battery terminal.<\/p>\n<p>            5. Verify that the red lamp on the <b>SST (Deployment tool)<\/b> is illuminated.<\/p>\n<p>            6. Verify that all persons are standing <b>at least 6 m {20 ft}<\/b> away from the vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>            7. Press the activation switch on the <b>SST (Deployment tool)<\/b> to operate (deploy) the side air bag module.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003966.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003966.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">WARNING:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>The air bag module is very hot immediately after it is operated (deployed). Remove the following parts:<\/p>\n<p>              a. Scuff plate (See <a href=\"SM356211\">SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>              b. Front seat back bar garnish (See <a href=\"SM356220\">SEAT BACK BAR GARNISH REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>              c. Quarter trim (See <a href=\"SM356222\">QUARTER TRIM REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>              d. Tire house trim (See <a href=\"SM356200\">TIRE HOUSE TRIM REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            2. Bend back the back trim. (See <a href=\"SM356223\">BACK TRIM REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            3. Using a flathead screwdriver, lift the locking device carefully, however do not remove it.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003967.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003967.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            4. Disconnect the pre-tensioner seat belt connector.<\/p>\n<p>            5. Connect the <b>SST (Adapter harness)<\/b> as shown in the figure.<\/p>\n<p>            6. Connect the <b>SST (Deployment tool)<\/b> to the <b>SST (Adapter harness)<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003968.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003968.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            7. Connect the <b>SST (Deployment tool)<\/b> to the battery. Connect the power supply red clip to the positive battery terminal, and the black clip to the negative battery terminal.<\/p>\n<p>            8. Verify that the red lamp on the <b>SST (Deployment tool)<\/b> is illuminated.<\/p>\n<p>            9. Disconnect the <b>SST (Deployment tool)<\/b> from the <b>SST (Adapter harness)<\/b>.<br \/>\n          <a name=\"id0810b180110006\" id=\"id0810b180110006\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Lap Pre-tensioner Seat Belt<\/h4>\n<p>            1. Remove the seat. (See <a href=\"SM356082\">SEAT REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            2. Remove the fastener.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003969.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003969.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            3. Remove the lap pre-tensioner seat belt cover.<\/p>\n<p>            4. Using a flathead screwdriver, lift the locking device carefully, however do not remove it.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003970.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003970.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            5. Disconnect the lap pre-tensioner seat belt connector.<\/p>\n<p>            6. Connect the <b>SST (Adapter harness)<\/b> as shown in the figure.<\/p>\n<p>            7. Connect the <b>SST (Deployment tool)<\/b> to the <b>SST (Adapter harness)<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003971.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003971.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            8. Connect the <b>SST (Deployment tool)<\/b> to the battery. Connect the power supply red clip to the positive battery terminal, and the black clip to the negative battery terminal.<\/p>\n<p>            9. Verify that the red lamp on the <b>SST (Deployment tool)<\/b> is illuminated.<\/p>\n<p>            10. Verify that all persons are standing <b>at least 6 m {20 ft}<\/b> away from the vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>            11. You can be burned. Do not touch the lap pre-tensioner seat belt for at least 15 min after deployment.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            12. Disconnect the <b>SST (Deployment tool)<\/b> from the <b>SST (Adapter harness)<\/b>.<br \/>\n          <a name=\"id0810b180110007\" id=\"id0810b180110007\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Deployment Procedure for Outside of Vehicle<\/h4>\n<p>            1. If one inflator is forced to operate (deploy), the other may operate (deploy) accidentally. To prevent injury while disposing of the air bag module, make sure to operate (deploy) both driver-side air bag module inflators simultaneously, following the procedure below.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">NOTE:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>The SSTs, two types of adapter harnesses (for inflators No.1 and No.2) and two deployment tools are to be used to operate (deploy) the driver-side air bag module.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            1. Connect the <b>SSTs (Adapter harness)<\/b> to the driver-side air bag module.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003973.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003973.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            4. Place the driver-side air bag module on the center of the tire wheel with the padded surface facing up. To secure the air bag module to the tire wheel, wrap a wire (cross section <b>1.25 mm<sup>2<\/sup> {0.002 in<sup>2<\/sup>} or more<\/b>) through the wheel and the air bag module <b>at least 4 times<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003974.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003974.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">WARNING:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>If the air bag module is not properly installed to the tire wheel, serious injury may occur when the air bag module is operated (deployed). Stack three tires without wheels on top of the tire with the driver-side air bag module, and then stack another tire with a wheel on the very top.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003975.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003975.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            6. Connect the <b>SST (Deployment tool)<\/b> to the battery. Connect the power supply red clip to the positive battery terminal, and the black clip to the negative battery terminal.<\/p>\n<p>            9. Verify that the red lamp on the <b>SST (Deployment tool)<\/b> is illuminated.<\/p>\n<p>            10. Verify that all persons are standing <b>at least 6 m {20 ft}<\/b> away from the vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>            11. Press the activation switch on the <b>SST (Deployment tool)<\/b> connected with <b>49 L066 002<\/b> (a yellow connector) of the <b>SST (Adapter harness)<\/b>, and <b>after 3 s<\/b>, press the activation switch on the other <b>SST (Deployment tool)<\/b> to operate (deploy) the driver-side air bag module (both inflators).<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003960.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003960.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">WARNING:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>Verify that air bag module operation (explosive) sound occurs twice. If no operation (explosive) sound was heard or a single operation (explosive) sound was heard, both inflators would not have operated (deployed) properly. This may cause serious injury if the air bag module operates (deploy) unexpectedly. If the two operation (explosive) sounds are not heard, perform Step 11 again. If a total of two operation (explosive) sounds cannot be verified even though Step 11 is performed again, leave the air bag module alone for 30 min or more before approaching it again.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>The air bag module is very hot immediately after it is operated (deployed). You can be burned. Do not touch the air bag module for at least 15 min after deployment.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            12. Duct (See <a href=\"SM353465\">PASSENGER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>              f. Place the padded surface of the passenger-side air bag module facing the center of the tire as shown in the figure. Stack the tire with the passenger-side air bag module on top of two tires without wheels. (See <a href=\"SM353460\">SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            4. Front seat back bar garnish (See <a href=\"SM356220\">SEAT BACK BAR GARNISH REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>              e. Quarter trim (See <a href=\"SM356222\">QUARTER TRIM REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>              f. Tire house trim (See <a href=\"SM356200\">TIRE HOUSE TRIM REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            2. Bend back the back trim. (See <a href=\"SM356223\">BACK TRIM REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            3. Remove the seat belt. (See <a href=\"SM353499\">SEAT BELT REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            4. Connect the <b>SST (Deployment tool)<\/b> to the <b>SST (Adapter harness)<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003987.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003987.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            9. Connect the <b>SST (Deployment tool)<\/b> to the battery. Connect the power supply red clip to the positive battery terminal, and the black clip to the negative battery terminal.<\/p>\n<p>            10. Verify that the red lamp on the <b>SST (Deployment tool)<\/b> is illuminated.<\/p>\n<p>            11. Verify that all persons are standing <b>at least 6 m {20 ft}<\/b> away from the vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>            12. Press the activation switch on the <b>SST (Deployment tool)<\/b> to operate (deploy) the pre-tensioner seat belt.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003966.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003966.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">WARNING:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>The pre-tensioner seat belt is very hot immediately after it is operated (deployed). You can be burned. Do not touch the pre-tensioner seat belt for at least 15 min after deployment.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            13. Disconnect the <b>SST (Deployment tool)<\/b> from the <b>SST (Adapter harness)<\/b>.<br \/>\n          <a name=\"id0810b180110012\" id=\"id0810b180110012\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Lap Pre-tensioner Seat Belt<\/h4>\n<p>            1. Remove the following parts:<\/p>\n<p>              a. Seat (See <a href=\"SM356082\">SEAT REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>              b. Lap pre-tensioner seat belt cover (See <a href=\"SM353499\">SEAT BELT REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>              c. Scuff plate (See <a href=\"SM356211\">SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>              d. Front seat back bar garnish (See <a href=\"SM356220\">SEAT BACK BAR GARNISH REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>              e. Quarter trim (See <a href=\"SM356222\">QUARTER TRIM REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>              f. Tire house trim (See <a href=\"SM356200\">TIRE HOUSE TRIM REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            2. Bend back the back trim. (See <a href=\"SM356223\">BACK TRIM REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            3. Remove the seat belt. (See <a href=\"SM353499\">SEAT BELT REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            4. Cut off the seat belt part of the lap pre-tensioner seat belt at the position shown in the figure.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003988.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003988.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            5. Connect the <b>SST (Adapter harness)<\/b> as shown in the figure.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003989.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003989.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            6. Secure the lap pre-tensioner seat belt to the vise as shown in the figure. Set the lap pre-tensioner piston so that the ejection end is pointed downward. Place the bottom surface of the housing so that it contacts the upper surface of the vise.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003990.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003990.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">WARNING:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>When the lap pre-tensioner seat belt operates (deploys), the piston ejects from the end of the cylinder. If an object lies in the ejection path within 40 mm of the cylinder end, the piston could hit the object, rebound and hit the lap pre-tensioner seat belt. The force of the piston hitting the lap pre-tensioner seat belt could dislodge it from the vice and cause injury. When securing the lap pre-tensioner in the vice, position it so that there is no obstruction in the ejection path within 40 mm of the cylinder end.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            7. Secure the lap pre-tensioner seat belt in the vise with a wire (cross section of <b>1.25 mm<sup>2<\/sup> {0.002 in<sup>2<\/sup>} or more<\/b>) through the shaft of vice and the lap pre-tensioner seat belt bracket hole <b>at least 4 times<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003991.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003991.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">WARNING:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>If the lap pre-tensioner seat belt is not properly installed to the vice, serious injury may occur when the lap pre-tensioner part is operated (deployed). When installing the lap pre-tensioner seat belt to the vice, verify that the lap pre-tensioner part is properly installed to the vise.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            8. Connect the <b>SST (Deployment tool)<\/b> to the <b>SST (Adapter harness)<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003992.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003992.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            9. Connect the <b>SST (Deployment tool)<\/b> to the battery.
