Read the air bag system service warnings and cautions before handling the passenger-side air bag module. (See <a href=\"SM353470\">AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM]<\/a>.) (See <a href=\"SM353469\">AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE CAUTIONS [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Due to the adoption of 2-step deployment control in the passenger-side air bag module, depending on the impact force, it is possible that inflator No.2 might not deploy. In such cases, before disposing of the air bag module, make sure to follow the inflator deployment procedures and verify complete deployment of inflators No.1 and 2.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            1. Switch the ignition off.<\/p>\n<p>            2. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for <b>1 min or more<\/b>. (See <a href=\"SM352783\">NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION\/CONNECTION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            3. Remove the following parts:<\/p>\n<p>              a. Passenger-side scuff plate (See <a href=\"SM356211\">SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>              b. Passenger-side front side trim (See <a href=\"SM356199\">FRONT SIDE TRIM REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>              c. Passenger-side A-pillar trim (See <a href=\"SM356198\">A-PILLAR TRIM REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>              d. Passenger-side lower panel (See <a href=\"SM356210\">PASSENGER-SIDE LOWER PANEL REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            4. Remove the screw.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003995.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003995.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            5. Remove the side duct.<\/p>\n<p>            6. Remove the duct.<\/p>\n<p>            7. Remove the following parts:<\/p>\n<p>              a. Auto leveling control module (without adaptive front lighting system (AFS)) (See <a href=\"SM356256\">AUTO LEVELING CONTROL MODULE REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>              b. Adaptive front lighting system (AFS) control module (with adaptive front lighting system (AFS)) (See <a href=\"SM353669\">ADAPTIVE FRONT LIGHTING SYSTEM (AFS) CONTROL MODULE REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>              c. Air mix actuator. (See <a href=\"SM353338\">AIR MIX ACTUATOR REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [FULL-AUTO AIR CONDITIONER]<\/a>.)(See <a href=\"SM353356\">AIR MIX ACTUATOR REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION [MANUAL AIR CONDITIONER]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            8. Remove the bolt.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003996.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003996.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            9. Remove the earth.<\/p>\n<p>            10. Using a flathead screwdriver, lift the locking device carefully, however do not remove it.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003997.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003997.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            11. Disconnect the passenger-side air bag module connectors.<\/p>\n<p>            12. Remove the screws.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003998.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003998.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            13. Remove the nuts.<\/p>\n<p>            14. Move the passenger-side air bag module in the direction of arrow (2) shown in the figure and detach guide A from the air bag case while spreading the air bag case in the direction of arrow (1).<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003999.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00003999.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            15. Move the passenger-side air bag module in the direction of the arrow (3) and detach guides B from the air bag case.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004000.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004000.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            16. Move the passenger-side air bag module in the direction of the arrow (4), and remove the passenger-side air bag module.<\/p>\n<p>            17. Install in the reverse order of removal.<\/p>\n<p>            18. Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on).<\/p>\n<p>            19. Verify that the air bag\/seat belt pre-tensioner system warning light illuminates for <b>approx. 6 s<\/b> and turns off.<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>If the air bag\/seat belt pre-tensioner system warning light does not operate, refer to the on-board diagnostic system (air bag system) and perform inspection of the system.
