Read the air bag system service warnings and cautions before handling the driver-side air bag module. (See <a href=\"SM353470\">AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM]<\/a>.) (See <a href=\"SM353469\">AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE CAUTIONS [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            1. Switch the ignition off.<\/p>\n<p>            2. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for <b>1 min or more<\/b>. (See <a href=\"SM352783\">NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION\/CONNECTION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            3. Remove the following parts:<\/p>\n<p>              a. Driver-side air bag module (See <a href=\"SM353476\">DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM]<\/a>.)(See <a href=\"SM353477\">DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>              b. Steering wheel (See <a href=\"SM353228\">STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>              c. Column cover (See <a href=\"SM356189\">COLUMN COVER REMOVAL\/INSTALLATION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            4. Disconnect the clock spring connector A.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004001.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004001.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            5. Disconnect the clock spring connector B. (See <a href=\"\"#id0810b180200001\">Clock Spring Connector B Disconnect Note<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            6. Disconnect the steering angle sensor connector. (with steering angle sensor)<\/p>\n<p>            7. Remove the tabs as shown in the figure and remove the clock spring.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004002.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004002.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            8. Install in the reverse order of removal. (See <a href=\"\"#id0810b180200002\">Clock Spring Installation Note<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            9. Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on).<\/p>\n<p>            10. Verify that the air bag\/seat belt pre-tensioner system warning light illuminates for <b>approx. 6 s<\/b> and turns off.<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>If the air bag\/seat belt pre-tensioner system warning light does not operate in the manner described above, there are malfunctions in the system. Inspect the system using the on-board diagnostic. (See <a href=\"SM353413\">FLOWCHART [SAS CONTROL MODULE (TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM)]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>          <a name=\"id0810b180200001\" id=\"id0810b180200001\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Clock Spring Connector B Disconnect Note<\/h4>\n<p>            1. Pull out the clock spring connector B lock lever in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004003.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004003.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            2. Move the clock spring connector B in the direction of arrow (2) shown in the figure to disconnect it.<br \/>\n          <a name=\"id0810b180200002\" id=\"id0810b180200002\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Clock Spring Installation Note<\/h4>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">CAUTION:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>If the clock spring is not adjusted, the spring wire in the clock spring will break due to overtension when the steering wheel is turned. Always adjust the clock spring after installing it.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>Adjust the clock spring after installing it.
