Read the air bag system service warnings and cautions before handling the driver-side air bag module. (See <a href=\"SM353470\">AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM]<\/a>.) (See <a href=\"SM353469\">AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE CAUTIONS [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Due to the adoption of 2-step deployment control in the driver-side air bag module, depending on the impact force, it is possible that inflator No.2 might not deploy. In such cases, before disposing of the air bag module, make sure to follow the inflator deployment procedures and verify complete deployment of inflators No.1 and 2.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">NOTE:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>The driver-side air bag module engages with the snap springs of the driver-side air bag module and the tabs of the steering wheel.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004024.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004024.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            1. Switch the ignition off.<\/p>\n<p>            2. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for <b>1 min or more<\/b>. (See <a href=\"SM352783\">NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION\/CONNECTION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            3. Verify the service hole on the back side of the steering wheel shown in the figure.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004025.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004025.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            4. Insert the tool into the service hole.<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n                <b>Recommended tool<\/b><\/p>\n<li>\n<p>Phillips driver <b>(diam. 6)<\/b><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004026.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004026.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            5. Press the snap springs in the direction of the arrows shown in the figure and detach the tabs.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004027.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004027.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">NOTE:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>While pressing the tool in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure, move the tool in the direction of arrow (2).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004028.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004028.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            6. Remove the driver-side air bag module from the steering wheel.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004029.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004029.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            7. Using a flathead screwdriver, lift the locking device carefully, however do not remove it.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004030.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004030.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            8. Disconnect the driver-side air bag module connectors.<\/p>\n<p>            9. Disconnect the horn switch connector.<\/p>\n<p>            10.
