Read the air bag system service warnings and cautions before handling the driver-side air bag module. (See <a href=\"SM353492\">AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS [STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM]<\/a>.) (See <a href=\"SM353491\">AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE CAUTIONS [STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">NOTE:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>The driver-side air bag module engages with the snap springs of the driver-side air bag module and the tabs of the steering wheel.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004094.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004094.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            1. Switch the ignition off.<\/p>\n<p>            2. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for <b>1 min or more<\/b>. (See <a href=\"SM352783\">NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION\/CONNECTION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            3. Verify the service hole on the back side of the steering wheel shown in the figure.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004095.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004095.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            4. Insert the tool into the service hole.<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n                <b>Recommended tool<\/b><\/p>\n<li>\n<p>Phillips driver <b>(diam. 6)<\/b><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004096.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004096.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            5. Press the snap springs in the direction of the arrows shown in the figure and detach the tabs.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004097.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004097.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">NOTE:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>While pressing the tool in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure, move the tool in the direction of arrow (2).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004098.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004098.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            6. Remove the driver-side air bag module from the steering wheel.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004099.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004099.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            7. Using a flathead screwdriver, lift the locking device carefully, however do not remove it.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004100.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004100.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            8. Disconnect the driver-side air bag module connector.<\/p>\n<p>            9. Disconnect the horn switch connector.<\/p>\n<p>            10.
