Read the air bag system service warnings and cautions before handling the driver-side air bag module. (See <a href=\"SM353492\">AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS [STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM]<\/a>.) (See <a href=\"SM353491\">AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE CAUTIONS [STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            1. Point the upper side of the driver-side air bag module towards the steering wheel as shown in the figure.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004101.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004101.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            2. Connect the horn switch connector.<\/p>\n<p>            3. Connect the driver-side air bag module connector and press in the locking device.<\/p>\n<p>            4. Move the driver-side air bag module in the direction of the arrow.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004102.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004102.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            5. Rotate the driver-side air bag module clockwise <b>180 degrees<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004103.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004103.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            6. Lift the driver-side air bag module wiring harness in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004104.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004104.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            7. Align the driver-side air bag module holes with the steering wheel tabs.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004105.GIF\"><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/16ND\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AMXUUW00004105.GIF\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            8. Press the driver-side air bag module in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure and attach the tabs.<\/p>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">CAUTION:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>If the driver-side air bag module is installed with the wiring harness contacting the steering wheel tabs, the wiring harness may be damaged. Carefully install the driver-side air bag module while verifying that the wiring harness does not contact the tabs.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>            9. Verify that the driver-side air bag module is securely installed.<\/p>\n<p>            10. Connect the negative battery cable. (See <a href=\"SM352783\">NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION\/CONNECTION<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>            11. Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on).<\/p>\n<p>            12. Verify that the air bag\/seat belt pre-tensioner system warning light illuminates for <b>approx. 6 s<\/b> and turns off.<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>If the air bag\/seat belt pre-tensioner system warning light does not operate normally, refer to the on-board diagnostic system (air bag system) and perform inspection of the system.
