(See <a href=\"SM353653\">FOREWORD [BLIND SPOT MONITORING (BSM) SYSTEM]<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>          <a name=\"id1503a302020001\" id=\"id1503a302020001\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Description<\/h4>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>The blind spot monitoring (BSM) warningr light turns on while not under illumination conditions.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>          <a name=\"id1503a302020002\" id=\"id1503a302020002\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Possible malfunction<\/h4>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">NOTE:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>The blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module cannot receive echo-back correctly if there is a thick moisture film (such as condensation) covering the rear bumper radar emitting\/receiving areas.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Non-genuine rear bumper or paint, or installation of after-market parts may negatively affect the radar echo-back ability of the blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>The blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module falsely detects a vehicle outside of the detection area as inside it, or falsely detects a vehicle as entering the area.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<ul type=\"square\">\n<li>\n<p>Deviation of the radar emission direction (emission outside of warning area, adjacent lane) of radar in the blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>Damage, deformity or looseness to blind spot monitoring (BSM) bracket or vehicle frame (including moderate impacts)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Incorrect installation of rear bumper, dirt on radar emitting\/receiving area, application of stickers (including transparent types), repairs using putty application<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<ul type=\"square\">\n<li>\n<p>The blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module cannot receive echo-back correctly.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>Blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module malfunction<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Incorrect installation of rear bumper, dirt on radar emitting\/receiving area, application of stickers (including transparent types), repairs using putty application<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<ul type=\"square\">\n<li>\n<p>Effect of non-genuine, after-market electronic device installation<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>Blind spot monitoring (BSM) warningr light illumination circuit malfunction<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<ul type=\"square\">\n<li>\n<p>blind spot monitoring (BSM) warningr light<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module (RH) internal malfunction (malfunction in blind spot monitoring (BSM) warningr light circuit).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module (LH) malfunction (mistaken flash request output)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<p>          <a name=\"id1503a302020003\" id=\"id1503a302020003\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Diagnostic Procedure<\/h4>\n<p><b><span class=\"c1\">WARNING:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>\n<p>When performing a road test, always verify the safety of the surrounding area before performing the test.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Do not perform a road test at a speed which exceeds the legal speed limit.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>To assure safety, perform a road test using two people when the vehicle is being driven.
