SPEED SENSOR ASSY (TURBOCHARGER WITH VARIABLE TURBINE GEOMETRY) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5]

European (L.H.D.) Specs.

Note

•  The speed sensor assy of the turbocharger with variable turbine geometry is built into the turbocharger with variable turbine geometry. When replacing the speed sensor assy of the turbocharger with variable turbine geometry, replace the turbocharger with variable turbine geometry itself.

1.  Remove the turbocharger with variable turbine geometry. (See TURBOCHARGER WITH VARIABLE TURBINE GEOMETRY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].)

Except European (L.H.D.) Specs.

1.  Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

2.  Disconnect the service plug of the capacitor.(With i-ELOOP) (See SERVICE PLUG DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [i-ELOOP].)

3.  Remove the engine cover. (ENGINE COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5])

4.  Remove the wiring harness bracket shown in the figure.

5.  Disconnect the speed sensor component connector and remove the connector (gray) on the male side from the bracket.

6.  Remove the following parts. (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].)

•  Air cleaner cover

•  Air hose

•  Air inlet pipe

•  Air cleaner element (With i-ELOOP)

•  Air cleaner case (With i-ELOOP)

•  Fresh-air duct (With i-ELOOP)

7.  Remove the battery. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].)

8.  Remove the battery tray.(With i-ELOOP) (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].)

9.  Remove the DC-DC converter (i-ELOOP) installation bolt, lift up the DC-DC converter (i-ELOOP), and disconnect the pin (figure A) and body.(With i-ELOOP)

10.  Disconnect the connector shown in the figure with the DC-DC converter (i-ELOOP) moved.(With i-ELOOP)

11.  Set the DC-DC converter (i-ELOOP) aside in front of the vehicle. (With i-ELOOP)

12.  Remove the following parts as a single unit. (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].)

•  Turbocharger air inlet hose

•  Blow-by heater

•  Breather hose

13.  Disconnect the turbocharger solenoid valve connector and set it aside.

14.  Remove the speed sensor component in the order shown in the figure.

15.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

16.  Perform the procedure required after disconnecting/connecting the negative battery cable terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)
