Description

Temperature temporarily increases depending on various external and environmental factors (Blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module (LH) or (RH))

Detection condition
•  Blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module internal temperature of 115 °C {239 °F} or more detected for 10 s or more with the ignition switched ON (engine off or on).
Fail-safe
•  Blind spot monitoring (BSM) system is stopped.
Possible cause
•  Temporary rise in temperature due to some external environment factor
•  Blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module (RH) malfunction
•  Blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module (LH) malfunction

VERIFY BLIND SPOT MONITORING (BSM) CONTROL MODULE INTERNAL TEMPERATURE
•  Display the following PIDs using the M-MDS.
―  INTNL_TMP_L
―  INTNL_TMP_R
•  Is the value 115 °C {239 °F} or more?
Yes
Replace the blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module in which the internal temperature increased, then go to Step 3.
No
Go to the next step.

VERIFY IF MALFUNCTIONING LOCATION IS BLIND SPOT MONITORING (BSM) CONTROL MODULE (RH) DEPENDING ON REPEATABILITY
•  Clear the DTC for the blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module using the M-MDS.
•  Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on) and wait for 11.5 s or more.
•  Retrieve the blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module DTCs using the M-MDS.
•  Is the same DTC displayed?
Yes
Replace the blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module, then go to the next step.
No
Go to Step 4.

VERIFY THAT REPAIRS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED
•  Clear the DTC for the blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module using the M-MDS.
•  Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on) and wait for 11.5 s or more.
•  Retrieve the blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module DTCs using the M-MDS.
•  Is the same DTC displayed?
Yes
Repeat the inspection from Step 1.
•  If the malfunction recurs, replace the blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module (LH).
Go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
4
VERIFY IF OTHER DTCs DISPLAYED
•  Are any other DTCs displayed?
Yes
Repair or replace the malfunctioning part according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
