FRONT SEAT CUSHION TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

Warning

•  Handling a front seat equipped with a side air bag improperly can accidentally operate (deploy) the air bag, which may seriously injure you. Read the service warnings/cautions in the Workshop Manual before handling the front seat (side air bag integrated). (See AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM].) •  If the sliding mechanisms on both sides are not locked after assembling the front seat, the front seat will operate accidentally while the vehicle is driven, which could result in serinus injury. After assembling the front seat, shake it up and down and verify that the sliding mechanism on the both sides are locked.

Caution

•  After the front seat has been removed, if the slider lever is operated and the front seat is reinstalled with the left/right slide positions deviated, the adjuster unit could be damaged. After removing a front seat, do not operate the slider lever.

•  Verify that there are no malfunctions in the forward/back slide of the seat and in the adjuster unit after installing a front seat.

•  When performing the procedure with a front seat removed from the vehicle, perform the procedure on a clean cloth so as not to damage or dirty the seat.

Removal

1.  Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

2.  Remove the front seat. (See FRONT SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

3.  Remove the front seat side cover. (See FRONT SEAT SIDE COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

4.  Move the hook in the order of arrows (1) and (2) shown in the figure and set the front seat cushion trim away from the front seat cushion frame.

5.  Disconnect the connectors shown in the figure.

6.  Remove the wiring harness clip.

7.  Remove the C-rings.

8.  Move the hook in the order of arrows (1) and (2) shown in the figure and set the front seat cushion trim away from the front seat cushion frame.

9.  Move the front seat cushion trim in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure and set the front seat cushion trim away from the front seat cushion frame.

10.  Move the hook in the order of arrows (1) and (2) shown in the figure and set the front seat cushion trim away from the front seat cushion frame.

11.  Remove the C-rings, and then remove the front seat cushion trim from the front seat cushion pad.

Note

•  The position and number of C-rings differ depending on the type of seat.

Installation

1.  Install the C-rings by aligning the C-ring installation holes of the front seat cushion trim and the front seat cushion pad.

Caution

•  If a C-ring is damaged while removing or installing the front seat cushion trim and front seat cushion pad, it may not be possible to install the front seat cushion trim and front seat cushion pad normally. When removing or installing the front seat cushion trim and front seat cushion pad, be careful not to damage the C-rings.

•  If a C-ring is damaged, replace it with a new one.

Note

•  The position and number of C-rings differ depending on the type of seat.

•  Wrinkling can be easily prevented by installing the C-rings with a certain amount of tightening.

2.  Press the front seat cushion pad inward while pulling the front seat cushion trim outward.

3.  Move the hook in the order of arrows (1) and (2) shown in the figure and install the front seat cushion trim to the front seat cushion frame.

4.  Move the front seat cushion trim in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure and install the front seat cushion trim to the front seat cushion frame.

5.  Move the hook in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure and install the front seat cushion trim to the front seat cushion frame.

6.  Align the front seat cushion trim with the shape of the front seat cushion pad while pressing the front seat cushion pad outward.

7.  Pull the front seat cushion trim in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure and remove the wrinkles on the front seat cushion trim.

8.  Install the C-rings.

Caution

•   If a C-ring is damaged while removing or installing the front seat cushion trim and front seat cushion frame, it may not be possible to install the front seat cushion trim and front seat cushion frame normally. When removing or installing the front seat cushion trim and front seat cushion frame, be careful not to damage the C-rings.

•  If a C-ring is damaged, replace it with a new one.

9.  Pull the front seat cushion trim in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure and remove the wrinkles on the front seat cushion trim.

10.  Connect the connectors shown in the figure.

11.  Move the hook in the order of arrows (1) and (2) shown in the figure and install the front seat cushion trim to the front seat cushion frame.

12.  Install the front seat side cover. (See FRONT SEAT SIDE COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

13.  Install the front seat. (See FRONT SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

14.  Connect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)
