FRONT SEAT BACK TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

Warning
-
• If the sliding mechanisms on both sides are not locked after assembling the front seat, the front seat will operate accidentally while the vehicle is driven, which could result in serious injury. After assembling the front seat, shake it up and down and verify that the sliding mechanism on the both sides are locked.

Caution
-
• After the front seat has been removed, if the slider lever is operated and the front seat is reinstalled with the left/right slide positions deviated, the adjuster unit could be damaged. After removing a front seat, do not operate the slider lever.
• Verify that there are no malfunctions in the forward/back slide of the seat and in the adjuster unit after installing a front seat.
• When performing the procedure with a front seat removed from the vehicle, perform the procedure on a clean cloth so as not to damage or dirty the seat.
Removal
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)
2. Remove the head restraint.
3. Remove the front seat. (See FRONT SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
4. Move the hook in the order of arrows (1) and (2) shown in the figure and remove the front seat cushion trim from the front seat cushion frame.
5. Disconnect the seat warmer unit connectors. (With seat warmer unit)
6. Remove the C-rings and set the front seat cushion trim aside from the front seat cushion frame.
7. Move hook A in the order of arrows (1) and (2) shown in the figure and remove it from hook B.
8. Unzip the zippers.

• There is also a seat type with a zipper on only one side.
9. Move the hook in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure and remove the front seat back trim from the front seat back frame.
10. While pressing the pole guide tabs in the directions of arrows (2) shown in the figure, pull the pole guide in the direction of arrow (3) and remove the pole guide from the front seat back frame.
11. Remove the nut.
12. Pull the side air bag module securing belt in the directions of arrows (1) and (2) and remove the side air bag module securing belt from the front seat back frame stud bolt.
13. Remove the tie wrap.
14. Pull out the front seat back pad and the front seat back trim to the front side of the front seat.
15. Lift up the front seat back trim and the front seat back pad as a single unit in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure to remove them from the front seat back frame.
16. Remove the C-rings, and then remove the front seat back trim from the front seat back pad.

• The position and number of C-rings differ depending on the type of seat.
Installation
1. Install the C-rings by aligning the C-ring installation holes of the front seat back trim and the front seat back pad.

Caution
-
• If a C-ring is damaged while removing or installing the front seat back trim and front seat back pad, it may not be possible to install the front seat back trim and front seat back pad normally. When removing or installing the front seat back trim and front seat back pad, be careful not to damage the C-rings.
• If a C-ring is damaged, replace it with a new one.

• The position and number of C-rings differ depending on the type of seat.
• Wrinkling can be easily prevented by installing the C-rings with a certain amount of tightening.
2. Press the front seat back pad inward while pulling the front seat back trim outward.
3. Install the front seat back trim and the front seat back pad to the front seat back frame as a single unit.
4. Pull out the front seat back pad and the front seat back trim to the rear side of the front seat.
5. Install the side air bag module securing belt to the front seat back frame stud bolt in the order of (1) and (2) shown in the figure.
6. Install the tie nut.
7. Install the tie wrap.
8. Install the pole guide to the front seat back frame.
9. Move the hook in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure and install the front seat back trim to the front seat back frame.
10. Fasten the zippers.

• There is also a seat type with a zipper on only one side.
11. Press the front seat back pad outward so that the shapes of the front seat back pad and the front seat back trim match.
12. Pull the front seat back trim in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure and remove the wrinkles on the front seat back trim.
13. Move hook A in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure and install it to hook B.
14. Install the front seat cushion trim to the front seat cushion frame.
15. Connect the seat warmer unit connectors. (With seat warmer unit)

Caution
-
• If the C-rings are damaged while removing/installing the front seat cushion trim and the front seat cushion frame, the front seat cushion trim and the front seat cushion frame cannot be installed correctly.Be careful not to damage the C-rings when removing/installing the front seat cushion trim and the front seat cushion frame.
• If a C-ring is damaged, replace it with a new one.
16. Install the C-rings.
17. Install the fastener and install the front seat back trim to the front seat back frame.
18. Move the hook in the order of arrows (1) and (2) shown in the figure and install the front seat cushion trim to the front seat cushion frame.
19. Install the front seat. (See FRONT SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
20. Install the head restraint.
21. Connect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)
