GENERATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [WITH i-ELOOP (SKYACTIV-G 1.3, SKYACTIV-G 1.5)]

Warning

•  Remove and install all parts when the engine is cold, otherwise they can cause severe burns or serious injury.

Procedure Before i-ELOOP-Related Part Servicing

Warning

•  If the terminal of one of the i-ELOOP-related parts contacts the vehicle body with the service plug of the capacitor connected, it could cause a fire and damage to electrical parts. In addition, if the terminal contacts your body, it could cause electrocution. Disconnect the service plug of the capacitor before disconnecting the i-ELOOP-related part terminal. (See SERVICE PLUG DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [i-ELOOP].)

―  For the i-ELOOP-related part terminals, refer to the “PROCEDURE BEFORE i-ELOOP-RELATED PART SERVICING”. (See PROCEDURE BEFORE i-ELOOP-RELATED PART SERVICING [i-ELOOP].)

Generator Removal/Installation

1.  Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

2.  Remove the plug hole plate. (See PLUG HOLE PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 1.3, SKYACTIV-G 1.5].)

3.  Disconnect the service plug. (See SERVICE PLUG DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [i-ELOOP].)

4.  Remove the generator drive belt. (See DRIVE BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 1.3, SKYACTIV-G 1.5].)

5.  Remove the A/C compressor with the cooler hose still connected and secure it using wire or rope so that it is out of the way. (See A/C COMPRESSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 1.3, SKYACTIV-G 1.5].)

6.  Remove in the order indicated in the table.

7.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

Generator removal note

1.  Remove the generator from the upper side of the engine compartment.

Generator installation note

1.  To facilitate the installation of the generator to the engine, grasp the spacer in the bolt installation hole using pliers and push it down to the nut side.

2.  Temporarily install the generator to the engine with the bolt C.

3.  Align the generator fixing hole with the engine side hole, then temporarily tighten the generator installation bolt B.

4.  Securely tighten the generator installation bolts in the order of B, C.
