FUEL FILTER DISASSEMBLY/ASSEMBLY [SKYACTIV-D 1.5]

Warning
•  Fuel is highly flammable and dangerous. Fuel line spills and leakage can cause serious injury or death, and damage to equipment. If fuel comes into contact with the skin and eyes it will cause irritation. To prevent this, always perform the “Fuel Line Safety Procedure” referring to the “BEFORE REPAIR PROCEDURE”.
•  A person charged with static electricity could cause a fire or explosion, resulting in death or serious injury. Before servicing the fuel system, make sure to discharge static electricity by touching a vehicle.
Caution
•  If parts are exposed to the fuel, their function may be decreased or a fire may occur. Spread a rag to absorb any leaked fuel.

•  For the details of the fuel filter water draining, refer to the “FUEL FILTER WATER DRAINING“. (See FUEL FILTER WATER DRAINING [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].)

Drain Plug Removal/Installation

1.  Remove the fuel filter. (See FUEL FILTER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].)

2.  Remove the drain plug.

3.  Install in the reverse order of removal. (See Drain plug installation note.)


Drain plug installation note

After performing the fuel filter disassembly
1.  Until the O-ring contacts the fuel filter, tighten the drain plug by hand.
2.  Mark the position as shown in the figure.

3.  Tighten the drain plug within the range of the following angle.

144°—180°
After performing the fuel filter water draining
Note
•  When the drain plug is loosened for draining, the drain plug O-ring can be reused.
1.  Tighten the drain plug sufficiently. (See FUEL FILTER WATER DRAINING [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].)


Fuel Filter Removal/Installation

1.  Remove the fuel filter. (See FUEL FILTER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].)

2.  Disassemble in the order indicated in the table.

3.  Assemble in the reverse order of removal.


Fuel filter installation note

1.  Apply a small amount of fuel to the fuel filter O-ring. Tighten the fuel filter approx. 1/2 by hand.


Fuel filter body Removal/Installation

1.  Remove the fuel filter. (See FUEL FILTER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].)

2.  Remove the fuel filter body

3.  Install in the reverse order of removal.
