Diagnostic Procedure

Step

Inspection

Action

1
DETERMINE IF MALFUNCTION CAUSE IS DVD
•  After obtaining the customer’s consent, insert a DVD with the correct region code and image file.
•  Is DVD sound produces?
Yes
System is normal. Explain to the customer that the DVD cannot be played for any one of the following reasons.
•  Dirt or scratches on DVD
•  Incorrect region code
•  Image file not incompatible
No
Go to the next step.
2
INSPECT DVD/CD PLAYER CONNECTOR CONDITION
•  Disconnect the negative battery cable.
•  Disconnect the DVD/CD player connector.
•  Inspect the connector engagement and connection condition, and inspect the terminals for damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection.
•  Is the connector normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the connector, then go to Step 9.
3
INSPECT CONNECTIVITY MASTER UNIT (CMU) CONNECTOR CONDITION
•  Disconnect the connectivity master unit (CMU) connector.
•  Inspect the connector engagement and connection condition, and inspect the terminals for damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection.
•  Is the connector normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the connector, then go to Step 9.
4
VERIFY IF MALFUNCTION CAUSE IS OPEN CIRCUIT IN WIRING HARNESS BETWEEN TUNER AMP UNIT (TAU) AND DVD/CD PLAYER
•  Verify that the DVD/CD player and the amp unit (TAU) connector are disconnected.
•  Inspect the wiring harness for continuity between the following terminals (vehicle wiring harness side).
―  Tuner and amp unit (TAU) terminal 1M and DVD/CD player terminal L
―  Tuner and amp unit (TAU) terminal 1N and DVD/CD player terminal N
―  Tuner and amp unit (TAU) terminal 1O and DVD/CD player terminal P
―  Tuner and amp unit (TAU) terminal 1P and DVD/CD player terminal R
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
•  Refer to the wiring diagram and verify if there is a common connector between the following terminals.
―  Tuner and amp unit (TAU) terminal 1M and DVD/CD player terminal L
―  Tuner and amp unit (TAU) terminal 1N and DVD/CD player terminal N
―  Tuner and amp unit (TAU) terminal 1O and DVD/CD player terminal P
―  Tuner and amp unit (TAU) terminal 1P and DVD/CD player terminal R
If there is a common connector:
•  Inspect the common connector and terminals for corrosion, damage, or disconnection and the common wiring harnesses for an open circuit to determine the malfunctioning location.
•  Repair or replace the malfunctioning location.
If there is no common connector:
•  Repair or replace the wiring harness which has an open circuit.
•  Go to Step 9.
5
VERIFY IF MALFUNCTION CAUSE IS SHORT TO GROUND IN WIRING HARNESS BETWEEN TUNER AMP UNIT (TAU) AND DVD/CD PLAYER
•  Verify that the DVD/CD player and the amp unit (TAU) connector are disconnected.
•  Inspect for continuity between the following terminals (vehicle wiring harness side) and body ground.
―  DVD/CD player terminal L
―  DVD/CD player terminal N
―  DVD/CD player terminal P
―  DVD/CD player terminal R
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
•  Refer to the wiring diagram and verify if there is a common connector between the following terminals.
―  Tuner and amp unit (TAU) terminal 1M and DVD/CD player terminal L
―  Tuner and amp unit (TAU) terminal 1N and DVD/CD player terminal N
―  Tuner and amp unit (TAU) terminal 1O and DVD/CD player terminal P
―  Tuner and amp unit (TAU) terminal 1P and DVD/CD player terminal R
If there is a common connector:
•  Inspect the common connector and terminals for corrosion, damage, or disconnection and the common wiring harnesses for short to ground to determine the malfunctioning location.
•  Repair or replace the malfunctioning location.
If there is no common connector:
•  Repair or replace the wiring harness which is shorted to ground.
•  Go to Step 9.
No
Go to the next step.
6
VERIFY IF MALFUNCTION CAUSE IS SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY IN WIRING HARNESS BETWEEN TUNER AMP UNIT (TAU) AND DVD/CD PLAYER
•  Verify that the DVD/CD player and the amp unit (TAU) connector are disconnected.
•  Reconnect the negative battery cable.
•  Switch the ignition to ACC or ON (engine off or on).
•  Measure the voltage at the following terminals (vehicle wiring harness side).
―  DVD/CD player terminal L
―  DVD/CD player terminal N
―  DVD/CD player terminal P
―  DVD/CD player terminal R
•  Is the voltage B+?
Yes
•  Refer to the wiring diagram and verify if there is a common connector between the following terminals.
