Fuel-filler Lid Opener

5HB

1.  Open the fuel-filler lid.

2.  Remove the following parts:

(1)  Rear combination light (See REAR COMBINATION LIGHT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(2)  Rear splash shield (See SPLASH SHIELD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(3)  Rear bumper (See REAR BUMPER REMOVAL.) (See REAR BUMPER INSTALLATION.)

(4)  Extractor chamber (LH) (See EXTRACTOR CHAMBER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(5)  Rear package tray (See REAR PACKAGE TRAY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(6)  Trunk covering (See TRUNK COVERING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(7)  Trunk board (See TRUNK BOARD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(8)  Trunk end trim (See TRUNK END TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

3.  Partially peel back the trunk side trim (LH) to the position allowing removal of the fuel-filler lid opener.(See TRUNK SIDE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

4.  Open the fuel-filler lid opener box and disconnect the fuel-filler lid opener from the fuel-filler lid opener box.

5.  While pressing the tabs in the directions of arrows (1) shown in the figure, press it out in the direction of arrow (2) and detach the stopper tabs from the body.

6.  Remove the stopper.

7.  Rotate the fuel-filler lid opener in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure and detach the fuel-filler lid opener from the body.

8.  Remove the fuel-filler lid opener.

9.  While pressing the fuel-filler lid opener tab, rotate the lift spring in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure and detach the lift spring from the fuel-filler lid opener.

10.  Remove the lift spring.

11.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

1.  Open the fuel-filler lid.

2.  Remove the nut.

3.  Remove the service hole cover on the trunk side trim (LH).

4.  While pressing the tabs of the stopper bracket in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure, press it in the direction of arrow (2) to detach it from the body.

5.  Detach all the stopper bracket tabs from the body and remove the stopper bracket.

6.  Remove the fuel-filler lid opener in the direction of the arrow.

7.  Disconnect the fuel-filler lid opener cable from the fuel-filler lid opener.

8.  Install in the reverse order of removal. (See Fuel-filler lid opener installation note.)

Fuel-filler lid opener installation note

1.  Install the fuel-filler lid opener so that the fuel-filler lid opener lever faces outward of veicle.

Fuel-filler lid opener lever

1.  While pulling the fuel-filler lid opener lever, insert a tape-wrapped flathead screwdriver into the position shown in the figure.

2.  Move the tape-wrapped flathead screwdriver in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure to press the tab, and pull the fuel-filler lid opener cable in the direction of arrow (2) to detach the fuel-filler lid opener lever from the driver's side lower panel.

Caution

•  Be careful not to damage the fuel-filler lid opener lever with the flathead screwdriver.

3.  Pull the fuel-filler lid opener lever and remove it from the driver's side lower panel.

4.  Disconnect the fuel-filler lid opener cable from the fuel-filler lid opener lever.

5.  Install in the reverse order of removal.
