DETECTION CONDITION

•  Error detected in signal from PCM via CAN communication

FAIL-SAFE FUNCTION

•  Engine speed signal malfunction

―  Power steering malfunction indicator light Illuminates

―  EPS motor current control enabled

•  Vehicle speed signal malfunction

―  Power steering malfunction indicator light Illuminates

―  EPS motor current control is maintained by gradually changing the controlled vehicle speed and setting it to specified speed

•  i-stop condition signal malfunction

―  Power steering malfunction indicator light does not Illuminate

―  EPS motor current control enabled

POSSIBLE CAUSE

•  PCM malfunction

VERIFY PCM DTC

•  Using the M-MDS, perform the PCM DTC inspection.
(See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC TEST [SKYACTIV-G 1.3, SKYACTIV-G 1.5].)

(See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC TEST [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].)

•  Are any DTCs present?

Yes

Go to applicable DTC inspection.

(See DTC TABLE [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].)

DTC troubleshooting completed, then go to the next step.

No

Go to the next step.

VERIFY DTC TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED

•  Using the M-MDS, clear the DTC from the EPS control module.
(See CLEARING DTC [EPS CONTROL MODULE].)

•  Using the M-MDS, perform the EPS control module DTC inspection.
(See DTC INSPECTION [EPS CONTROL MODULE].)

•  Is the same DTC present?

Yes

Repeat the inspection from Step1.

If the malfunction recurs, replace the PCM, then go to the next step.

No

Go to the next step.

VERIFY NO DTC IS PRESENT

•  Are any DTCs present?

Yes

Go to applicable DTC inspection.

No
