REAR SEAT BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

Caution

• If the retractor is disassembled, the rear seat belt will not pull out or retract correctly due to looseness and excessive play. Therefore, do not disassemble the retractor.

1. Switch the ignition off.

2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

3. Remove the rear seat belt from the guide.

4. Remove the following parts:

(1) Rear scuff plate (See REAR SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(2) Rear seat cushion (See REAR SEAT CUSHION REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(3) Tire house trim (See TIRE HOUSE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(4) C-pillar trim (See C-PILLAR TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(5) High-mount brake light (See HIGH-MOUNT BRAKE LIGHT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(6) Rear package trim (See REAR PACKAGE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

5. Remove the bolts.

6. Remove the rear seat belt retractor in the direction of the arrow.

7. Remove the rear seat belt.

8. Install in the reverse order of removal.

5HB (with rear pre-tensioner seat belt)

Warning

• Handling the rear seat belt (rear pre-tensioner seat belt) improperly can accidentally deploy the rear pre-tensioner seat belt, which may seriously injure you. Read the air bag system service warnings and cautions before handling the rear seat belt. (See AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM].) 1. Switch the ignition off.

2. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

3. Remove the following parts:

(1) Rear package tray (See REAR PACKAGE TRAY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(2) Trunk covering (See TRUNK COVERING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(3) Trunk board (See TRUNK BOARD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(4) Trunk end trim (See TRUNK END TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(5) Rear seat cushion (See REAR SEAT CUSHION REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

4. Remove the bolt.

5. Remove the following parts:

(1) Rear scuff plate (See REAR SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(2) Rear seat back (See REAR SEAT BACK REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(3) Trunk side trim (See TRUNK SIDE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(4) C-pillar trim (See C-PILLAR TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

6. Using a flathead screwdriver, lift the locking device carefully, however do not remove it.

7. Disconnect the rear pre-tensioner seat belt connector.

8. Remove the bolts.

9. Move the rear seat belt retractor in the order of arrows (1) and (2) shown in the figure, and remove it from the body.

10. Remove the rear seat belt.

11. Install in the reverse order of removal.

12. Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on).

13. Verify that the air bag/seat belt pre-tensioner system warning light illuminates for approx. 6 s and turns off.

• If the air bag/seat belt pre-tensioner system warning light does not operate, refer to the on-board diagnostic system (air bag system) and perform inspection of the system. (See FLOWCHART [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM].)

5HB (without rear pre-tensioner seat belt)

1. Switch the ignition off.

2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

3. Remove the following parts:

(1) Rear package tray (See REAR PACKAGE TRAY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(2) Trunk covering (See TRUNK COVERING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(3) Trunk board (See TRUNK BOARD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(4) Trunk end trim (See TRUNK END TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(5) Rear seat cushion (See REAR SEAT CUSHION REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

4. Remove the bolt.
